I would love to see Matt in a Tampa Bay Buc uniform, except in good conscience, with the Bucs ownership (not going away) and coaching staff (temporary probably), I wouldn't wish that situation on anyone. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Merry Christmas! I haven't been lurking on TDs as much as it's an inbetween time for us now and suspect that this has been covered. But just in case:

I'm for it, of course, more Tiger football. But this year it would have only meant to those two extra teams and their fan bases is that their New year would have been bleaker. To the tune of their prides and joys being throttled, thrashed and reminded of how happy they are that don't have the honor of sharing a conference with LSU and Alabama. And the the NCG would still be LSU vs. Alabama.

Regards and :geauxtigers:
Indeed! Merry Christmas to all! (in the spirit of the season, the Alabama team and it's fans are most definitely included)

Hoyt, my fren, the Alabama team is definitely one of the top 2 teams this year. As such, your guys belong in the NCG. But much of your fanbase, as represented to me, mostly from TideFans.com, embarrasses me as a former resident of the great state of Alabama.

Jan.9 should be fun.

:geauxtigers:
Me too. All I got were a bunch of highlights. Thanks. :geauxtigers:
Does anyone have the link for the You Tube video of the CBS broadcast of the 11/5/11 game? I had it but seem to have deleted it or ssomething :banghead:.

If someone could re-link it, I'd appreciate it.

:geauxtigers:
Sorry, I posted this before I found the earlier post on the same subject. Thanks for the link, hg.

But this return was absolutely the best punt return I've ever seen! Thanks, TM7.

:geauxtigers:
Does anyone have a link to a video of TM7's 2nd punt return from the Georiga game? The unbelieveable one that ended in a shoestring tackle. Please post if you do...

This topic has been hashed and rehashed on several other threads, however this is my perspective.

My only real concern is beating the Bulldogs tomorrow in the SECCG. I am not looking ahead to what comes next, but, if things work out for us in Atlanta, I would like to see the Tide waiting down the road in the NCG.

I lived in Alabama for about 9 years in my youth. These were the Bear Bryant years and I loved the Tide above all other college teams. This was also an era when I feel that Alabama fans developed a strong sense of entitlement concerning their program and it's rightful place in the world of college football.

Due to some family relocation reasons, in spite of my strong ties and feelings regarding the U. of A., I enrolled in LSU as a freshman ( I still have my beanie). When I went to my first LSU game in Tiger Stadium it was literally love at first sight. I was hooked and have been ever since.

During my years at LSU, Alabama owned us and just about everyone else in college football. Coach Bryant retired and died. He was replaced by a series of wannabes that extends to the present. Throughout the series good to semigood coaches they've had since the Bear, Alabama's vision of themselves and the world around them has not altered. They still view themselves and the definition of college football royalty. They're in desperate need of a reality check. They have had some great teams, mostly since Nick Saban took over, and this year's team is one of their best. But now they need to earn what they get. Nick Saban is not Bear Bryant. Not even close, nobody is or will be, ever.

This self-delusion is the basis for their refusal to accept that an LSU coached by Les Miles could come into Bryant-Denny and defeat what Tide fans feel is Nick Saban's best Alabama squad.

LSU won the game on Nov. 5, in overtime, but it was close enough and the Alabama team and fans response to that loss, fueled by their delusions of grandeur, leads me to agree that maybe we didn't really beat them...badly enough.

In the interests of generosity I want to see us play them again and beat 'em like crimson-headed step children. I want their hearts and minds, and their bruised bodies. It's for their own good. Bear Bryant is long gone. Alabama, the team and fanbase needs to realize, all the way down to their lizard brain level, that they are no longer the only tough kid on the playground.

:geauxtigers:
And don't get me going on their admins banning us from posting on TideFans. It's their board, they can do what they want but that doesn't mean it isn't LeftistCommiePinkoBedwettingPigdog gutless.

:geauxtigers:
I read this last night and :rotflmao:

I've been lurking over there off and on since before the game in November. Maybe it's just the kind of fans that post on that forum, but what I see there has an almost complete disconnect with what I personally know about folks from Alabama. I lived in Montgomery for almost ten years. Great place, friendliest state I've ever seen. Deep South courtesy abounds.

But what is the venomous hate directed against LSU, indirectly, and TM7, directly?

For TM7, it's obviously based on his unnecessary hit from behind that, at first glance, looked worse than it was. No neck invloved and the guy did wobble off the field vertically. Bad hit. Cost us 15 yards. But it's over. Football players do hit football players. No evil intent involved.

Then there's his psyops program of trash talkiing and boogie man intimidation that begins whenever he takes the field...great stuff, even if they can't hear what he's saying (fans aren't privvy to his little gems, right?) but they can see him talking and it makes everybody on the side crazy. Very good stuff.

As for hating LSU in general, they seem to think that the 2011 Tide may be the best team they've had since Saban arrived. And for us to come into their house...

They seem to have forgotten their good manners since Nov. 5. Get over themselves and take a breath. Their perspective is embarrassing.

:geauxtigers:
Geeze! This is the kind of whiney stuff I see when I lurk over on the TideFans.com board. It would have been a ticky-tacky call if it had been made,IMHO.

:geauxtigers:
No, all things equal I do not want to play Alabama twice in the same season. To paraphrase a quoted Alabama player from an article in SI on a then recently played Alabama vs. Tennessee game...the head coaches were Bear Bryant and Doug Dickey. Anyway, he said words to the effect that no, Alabama didn't like playing Tennessee because 'they are too much like us'.

Fast forward to 2011. Those basics still apply but now it's Alabama and LSU. Would you like to play us any more than is absolutely necessary? Nobody really 'wants' to play either of us any more than is necessary. However, it may be an unavoidable task if you want to be the National Champion.

Alabama has come out of the season to this point smelling like a rose. Almost no way are they not in the NCG. For us, and them, we are each others' necessary evil. This assumes we win out against 2 good SEC teams between now and the NCG. As has been said before, they have the easier road to NOLa.

With each 'next game' on our schedule this season, the lore and legend of this this Tiger team has increased. But glory is fleeting and playing a team you've already beaten is always bad medicine. Ask Bobby Bowden about how cool it was to beat the stuffings out of Spurrier's Gators in regular season then play them again a month later for the NC.

So do I want to play Alabama twice this season? No. But they may well be a necessary evil.

:geauxtigers: :geauxtigers:
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of their women..." This is the reality of LSU this season. As an old Tiger fan, though newbie on this board, it seems too good to be true. But it is true. Lets enjoy the ride...this is great fun. And GEAUX!

:geauxtigers:
Very tragic. Prayers for comfort and peace of mind to his family and the extended Razorback family.

More like fruitcake speak.

:rotflmao:
This is all background noise...of course everyone who doesn't love the Tigers like we do wants to see LSU lose.

All we need to do is beat the stuffings out of every team that stands in our way, starting with Ole Miss tonight. Focus on what we can control, we're fine.

:geauxtigers:
I'm ready. Ready, but more concerned about Ole Miss tonight.

But from my lurks on your TideFans forum, if LSU beat Alabama again, I fear that the Great State of Alabama might be declared a disaster area...ya'll have a bunch of folks seemingly borderline suicidal since the Nov. 5 loss.

:geauxtigers:
I just got back after a few minutes of lurking and spying on TideFans forum. I lived in Alabama for 11 years and loved it, friendlist place I've ever lived. But wow, they are pretty obsessed.

The majority are convinced that LSU didn't beat Alabama...Alabama beat Alabama...LSU was just the lucky knuckleheads that happened to be on other side of the line when it happened. Comments from their players I've seen seem to reflect this level of denial also.

My conclusion: nobody deserves anything. Earn what you get and don't whine.
