That has ever played? Across the board, hands down the best?

I'm 30, been going to games since I was a kid. This is the best I've seen since I've been alive. Its the first time that I have not a worry, no matter who we play, that we will end up victorious! IMO of course....

2006 was the best that i saw.

however, our defense this year might be the best or tied for the best with 03

Probably most talented at least since the first BCS Championship team.

As far as "best", ask again in January. To be the best in history I think it has to win the title.

I am an old fart (59). I have been an avid LSU fan for 50 years or so that I can actually remember. This may very well be, the best LSU team I have ever seen. Overall. If you add up the offense, defense AND special teams, I think it might be. LSU has never had a weapon like Brad Wing punting the ball before. I think that tends to sway me that this might be the best.

I've paid attention to the Tigers since the early 80's and been a big fan since '88. Overall, this looks to be the best squad I've seen. Let them finish with the title undefeated, and I'd say there is no debate.

I've been going to LSU games since 1960. I've always thought the 1969 team was the best one--lost once to Archie Manning in Jackson by 3 pts., nailed out of a bowl when Notre Dame at the last minute decided to start playing in bowls and was given LSU's spot in the Cotton Bowl. Until, that is, I saw the 2003 team. At the end of the year no one could beat LSU. Now this team. This one is the best. Absolute confidence, and even Alabama in Tuscaloosa couldn't beat them. Yes, this is the best team I've seen. Maybe someone else can comment on 1958/59.

I have been a fan since I was ten, and that was the year of the '58 Tigers. I think this is the best team that I have ever seen, but i would say this. The '58 and '69 teams were great as was the 2003 team; however, I would say this the most COMPLETE team that I have ever watched. Offense, defense, and the special teams are complements to one another. I am very impressed by the team speed, particularly on the defensive line. I don't hear much about the linebackers, but I think they handle their job well. The are certainly overshadowed by the dl and cb positions. I love Matieu, but he needs to be dialed back with the ranting. He is a magnet for the ball, though. I have to say that my favorite player, and we have had maany great ones, remains as Tommy Casanova. I would rank Patrick Peterson as an equal; however, he never palyed on offense as Casanova occasionally did.

This team is one for the ages, and the Bama game last Saturday will loom larger and larger as time passes. It will rank up there with ND/Army, ND/Mich State, Nebraska/Oklahoma, and ND/Miami. It was a defensive battle with glimpses of offensive prowess only to come down to one final moment in overtime. This 9-6 victory in their house will be lengendary with each passing year. AND, it couldn't have happened to a better team, one who believes in arrogance, conceit, and narcissism. I felt like their attitude was that we were lucky that they condescended to play us.

Yep, as a whole, this team is probably the best, at least in recent history.

Defensively, not quite as good as 03, but it's a close 2nd. Offensively, not as good as 07, but more efficient.

Overall though, yes I think this is the best LSU team.

Could we win the NC? yes. Is it the best LSU team ever? no. Does anyone think we have at best competent quarterback(s)? A greatest team would have a top notch quarterback as well as every other aspect of the game. Sorry, but its the one position that almost cost us the game against Alabama and cost us the Capital One Bowl game against Penn State. I love my tigers, support them all the way, but wish we had Mauk or Flynn to guide us the rest of the way.

I haven't been alive long enough to give a strong answer, but I'll say this... The things that are the most impressive to me is the run defense, the takeaways, and punting. I mean, I remember ole Thunderfoot in '03 punting 60+ yards every other punt, and I remember Josh Jasper having incredible success aiming for the corners as well when we'd bring him in to do the pinning punts, but Brad Wing is all the in one. The run defense is lights out. Never seen anything like it. I've seen Lsu teams with more QB pressure, but this team forces more turnovers, and does it in incredible fashion. Just a few thoughts someone with more exp an add to their arguements.

Been a fan since arriving at LSU in 1995 and this is the best team I have seen us have. If we win out, this team can go down as one of the all time greats in College football IMO with the teams we have already beat and the teams we still would have yet to play.

Player wise it is close, the 03 team was loaded as well. If you consider the coach and not just the players I give the edge to this years team.
