Could Lamar Brown play guard?

I mean this kid was a top recruit on offense and defense last year. With how lackluster our guards have been this season, I think he could easily fill in for that position just based on his pure athleticism, size, and strength.
Granted I know this is a long shot and I am playing coach from the couch but damnit these seems like a good idea on this Monday morning.

Could he? Yes
Would he? Not at this point in the season.

Sure, he could probably be trained at guard, but not in what’s left of this season. It would probably be at least a 12 month project.
ETA: I think they have found their guard in Satterwhite. He keeps improving every game. He has the physical tools - the size, speed and quickness. His mistakes have mostly been late recognition of stunts and blitzes. But these are becoming fewer. He’s not there yet, but he’s getting there.
When I see this kind of improvement trajectory in offensive linemen it usually ends well. Not to brag (OK I’m bragging), but I called the 2019 offensive line a team strength before the year began. I based it on the fact that the 2018 line was mostly back, and they had improved all year long.
Fans are tough on offensive linemen because they have the only positions on the field in which they are only noticed for bad things.

The way he chased down the Auburn player Saturday down the sideline he moved like a damn linebacker. He's an athletic freak.

I don't understand him trying to force his way in on DL. First, we have much better players there, second, he's much better suited physically to play OL. He's built like a OG.

This is what I am thinking too man. He's an athletic specimen.
Could he turn out to be a phenomenal defensive lineman? Absolutely.
BUT, and I know hindsight is 20/20 and I am not the one getting paid the millions for this decision, BUT I feel as if we could have recognized this weakness at guard in camp and then see if Lamar would be intrigued in helping us there.
Would he want to? I'm taking a wild guess and saying no because he is currently playing d-line. However, I feel as if the coaches could have utilized him this season at guard and they could have recognized that in camp.

You didn’t notice that #55 is already starting RG?

Way too late in the season to switch him and have him make an impact

He wanted/wants to play dine.
Plenty of schools wanted him to play o line.

He's only 280 lbs. Playing offensive line as a Freshman is extremely hard to do even more so when you're 20 lbs under 300. I expect the Coaching staff to move him in the Spring if they believe he is better at OL but he has shown some good flashes at DL.

The highest paid guard makes half what the highest paid DE makes.
I do question him as an edge rusher long term. Either needs to slim down or trim the baby fat for more
muscle to stick at edge.
He also didn’t have a spring ball so he is adjusting as a True Freshmen not early enrollee.

If i recall correctly one of his stipulations was to play defense and not offense. Although I do agree with you and a good OL could make a ton of money.
