That's what I'm saying - Nashville is going to be really unpopular with the fans if that's the choice -

Why would Nashville be an unpopular choice?

wouldn't mind it because I live in Nashville and would be able to attend the game when I wouldn't have been able to otherwise; however, Nashville doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

And Orlando, Jacksonville, and Phoenix do?

It is my opinion that the typical LSU fan will be highly disappointed if a game that was scheduled for Houston, then initially talked about going to New Orleans ends up in Nashville.

frick it - I could be wrong about that (but I doubt it).

Nashville seems like an awesome place for the Jacoby Stevens era to begin.

Well, Nashville flights are more expensive and the weather forecasts for Nashville aren't great this weekend either. So in that sense, yes they do. Nashville hotel prices are outrageous as well, and that's just on a regular weekend. I think the pullback is that LSU scheduled a game in Houston for a reason...LSU has a huge alumni base there and it is a reasonable drive from Baton Rouge. I just think anything outside of New Orleans is going to piss off a lot of LSU fans

They're probably holding out as long as they can because they want it to be in New Orleans but are unsure about the rainfall totals.

Exactly,

A. Not Joe's decision to make. It's up to ESPN. They do consider what is best for the schools and that's why they get their input. But ultimately, its their call.

B. Its good that they are waiting to until tomorrow. If they decided today, the game would not be in New Orleans because there's still so much uncertainty about the direction and strength of the storm.

Hopefully we all wake up tomorrow and the storm has not strengthened and/or started heading more north than east.

Discussions aren't contracts. We can discuss having the game on the Moon. I'm saying, pay a fee to lock the venue in - like an insurance policy. If you don't have to move the game? No harm, no foul. If you do, then the alternate venue pretty much has to honor the original deal. This isn't rocket science.

So do you think for every single college and pro football game played this year, the people in charge need to have contingency venues under contract? Natural disasters come in all shapes and sizes, floods, tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes etc.

So for every event that gets planned, we need a second venue because a disaster could happen? Do they lock in hotels and travel arrangement too?

Its just a football game. Contingency plans would be very expensive and time consuming to do for every game. They do the best they can when a disaster strikes. It sounds like they are doing the best they can and will get the game in.

Mother nature has her own schedule and agenda. The disaster here is not if for some unlikely reason they cant get the game in at all, the disaster is going on in real time in Houston and other places.

Sometimes things happen and they are just no one's fault. So many are ready to blame LSU, Alleva, BYU and ESPN.

This is 100% Harvey's fault. You can't and don't contingency plan for every game. Its not practical.

You tell me how easy it is to move a NCAA game on 5 days notice?

They didn't just start looking for another venue today. They've been at this for a couple days now. Relax.

Lets call a spade a spade. The average geographically challenged LSU fan is going to be pissed off no matter where the game is played.

No decision is going to make everyone happy.

Joe doesn't really have much say so in this one.

Give what's already happened in Houston, no one should really be hoping it tracks closer to the city.

So basically us getting the game in NOLA depends on Mitch Landrieu making sure the pumps are working? We fawked.

Some place that was agreed upon as a contingency last Thursday or Friday.

Prior Planning Prevents (Piss) Poor Performance. Logistics are everything.

^^^^THIS 1000 times THIS^^^^

Inexcusable for ESPN and NRG to be caught with their pants down like this. They've known for a week that this was possible and for at least two or three days that it was inevitable. The backup plan should have been already set up before the storm even hit, and as soon as it was apparent how bad it was, the announcement should have been made over the weekend.

That should have been done and finished last week before they even knew for sure it would have to be moved. As soon as it became apparent, the contingency plan should have been ready to announce.

That is prolly true but I would think any decision would be fine right now, if like me you would like to go. So no decision or should I say last minute choice just pisses me off. Just tell me I'll get there.

if he said the announcement will be made in 24 hrs, then the venue has already been chosen. Booking hotel rooms, ect...before they go public.
