There are a lot of reasons why I wouldn't want to go to the Cotton Bowl but the main one is that it being played in the middle of the day on a day where most people are scheduled to work. Why did they move this game off of Jan 1st?

a) It is on a Friday.

b) January 2nd, 2009 will mark the final AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic played in Cotton Bowl Stadium.

just 2 possibilities...
likely a combination of the 2.

BTW, they just did about $ 50 MM of restoration to it.

I'm all there!
I learned my lesson last year. I went to the SECCG when it looked like there was no way we were going to play in the MNC, and we all know what a roller-coaster day that was.
ALWAYS support your TIGERS!

...the Cotton Bowl is also 10 miles from my house, so I won't beat my chest too much!

You would think that would suck for ratings. I'll take the day off but the average person isn't going take that day off to watch a second tier bowl game. A lot of LSU and Big 12 team fans won't even take the day off to watch it. Lack of competition won't make for the smaller pool of viewers.

I am glad since I will try to go to the game but seems like a stupid move by Fox/Cotton Bowl.

You are crazy if you don't want to go see the Tigers play in Texas. I live in Austin and I am more than willing to take a day off and drive up to Dallas to see my Tigers play! Friday at 1 PM is a lot better than a 11 AM game. However, I do understand what you mean about the game not being played on New Year's Day. I am afraid the days of all the big bowl games being played on New Year's day is a thing of the past.

I definitely want them to go to that bowl since I also live in Austin, for recruiting reasons and for the chance to play a top 10 team. I agree that Jan 1 isn't what it used to be. The only thing I think is crazy is the timeslot on a non-holiday week day.

Assuming you have January 1 off, it will actually make for a 4 day weekend. I suspect most people will take that Friday off.

The Cotton Bowl playing one the great teams from the Big 12 is the best possible scenario.

You would rather go to the Capital One or Chick fil A and play a bad Big 10 or ACC team?

What is the best way to measure your team and make progress heading into the offseason????Play a great bowl matchup and win.

I think LSU would fare well against those teams, mainly because we will have time to prepare, will be healthy and rested, and a big underdog.

The BCSNC is an aribitrary cluster-frick anyways, so getting a bowl matchup against UT or OU, and the way TT is playing, that is awesome for LSU!
