This would work if LSU didn’t say the same thing Will Wade did about the OLOL situation.

I don't think anyone's saying it's illegal for Wade to meet with his employer and talk about the case
After the initial leaks the judge classified all evidence in the case. I'm not sure if that applies to witnesses or just the lawyers for the prosecution and defense, but if it does then it would be illegal to talk about the case.
He probably felt he could better avoid specifics in a meeting without the NCAA present.

The fact that this crap is out there in the public is damning enough of LSU’s admin. They should be in complete Fox hole mode with will coaching.
maybe so.
doesn't change the fact that we are on page 3 of this thread and not one person can even admit Will Wade has handled this poorly, despite all the facts that are out there

You've been really proud of yourself for your stance in this matter.
Here's going to be the long-term results of all this:
Wade will ultimately be fired. LSU will pay him off.
LSU will go hire a re-tread, never been coach, who will recruit plan C prospects and LSU won't obtain an above .500 record for the next 6-8 years and won't sniff the NCAA Tournament.
Meanwhile, Wade won't have anything legally stick to him, and he will be hired by another P-5 school immediately after the 2019-2020 season. He'll have the team in the NCAA Tournament in year 2 and will build a program that will have that team winning on average 25 games a year, and in the NCAA Tournament every single year and will get to at least 2 Final Fours before LSU sees a winning SEC record.
So.......... be real proud of yourself. You and the LSU administration deserve one another. Meanwhile... the true LSU fans deserve a hell of lot better.

It was at the point that you knew whatever he did was bad.
All it takes is an innocuous innocent enough misremembered factoid from a conversation from said meeting and then you have a perjury trap when they subpoena everyone in that meeting.

They are going to end up paying Wade a ton of money not to coach.
This is what I'm thinking will happen unfortunately.

You're dumb as a rock. What everyone here has been trying to tell you for a week is that they never should've called the meeting to begin with. There's no upside to it.
That is fine. Ive said all along his suspension is fair for both parties if he does not want to talk about it. I have no problem with him not talking. In fact, it benefits him the most to use the trial to be quiet as long as possible.
The misinformation here is that he CANNOT talk, when he clearly can, because he was set to do so.
The misinformation was that LSU would not allow his lawyers there. Untrue.

Every attorney that isn’t representing LSU has said they wouldn’t let Wade meet with LSU in this situation if he was their client.
But carry on.

I really don’t understand what you expect Will to do after the suspension or even before.

What right does the NCAA have to be in all meetings with an employee?
If the employer invited them to the meeting, they have every right. The employer dictates these things, not the employee.

BINGO!!!!!!!!
joe wilted as usual at the first sign adversity and did not back his guy up. NCAA has not proven anything yet have they? Then you continue business as usual and deny allegations.

If you think an official LSU employee, giving a public statement, is going to lie about something like that, then you are just being ignorant.
It never made sense the minute I heard it, and in the end, my gut was right.

Did Wade or his attorney ever allege it was "illegal" for him to speak with LSU and the NCAA? I don't recall them ever saying that. He is certainly at risk of waiving privilege or opening up those in the meeting to subpoena in the FBI case if he meets with them. It is certainly inadvisable for Wade to go to a meeting with his employer and representatives of a regulatory body with the understanding that they can ask any question about the pending case and Wade's lawyer may or may not be present.
Regardless of what eventually comes out about Wade's actions, Alexander and Aleva totally mismanaged this situation. This is also a pattern of behavior with these guys. After the Duke Lacrosse fiasco, any rational employer would have Aleva on a one-strike-and-your-out arrangement.
It's time for those guys to go. It remains to be seen if whether Wade did anything that could be a fireable offense. It's clear Alexander and Aleva need to be fired now.

And that is fine. Just dont think you can coach until your employer is able to be briefed.

If he doesn't feel comfortable discussing this because of the trial, then wait until you can. Dont start making statements about how you are entitled to coach.
