I was talking about the bigger DE like Levingston/Aghayere.

What has he been through? I haven't heard anything about what's going on with him. Can anyone give some details?

His mom was murdered not too long ago in his hometown in Alabama.

I am sure Saban is talking to him on the phone right now...then he will meet with one of the players on his roster to let them know, "this isn't going to work out"...

Oh shite, I totally forgot about that. Wow. Maybe being closer to home is exactly what he needs. I hope wherever he goes there is a good support system in place for him.

Seems like whoever they go to will know our defensive schemes inside and out and will have a pretty good grip on our starter's tendencies as well. I think it's just bad news to release our former players to another SEC especially a West opponent.

I'll say again he has not been released yet to any particular school we know of. It may just be South Alabama.

That being said if he goes to Tuscaloosa he and Phelon can talk about Malleveto's defense all they want. I think the rest of the SEC had it pretty figured out anyways.

Well, either Davenport or Downs won't redshirt now. We're bound to have an injury at some point, particularly Alexander. One of them will play unless we move a DE inside.

its pathetic that some of these out of state kids dont want to stick around and compete. After 2 years they expect to be starters?

you have to work for that shite like any other player. Those who stick around are almost always rewarded.

and esp if you are going to a big program like Alabama. You arent going to a better situation, more than likely.

Not that I think this is a big deal, but Chavis did install his defense this past spring.

If this was a major concern, the pros would be screwed everytime they lost a free agent.

87 Chancey Aghayere 6-4, 269, Fr.
89 Lavar Edwards 6-4, 280, Fr.
99 Sam Montgomery 6-5, 260, Fr.
90 Mike Brockers 6-6, 255, Fr.
93 Bennie Logan 6-3, 272, Fr.

Defensive Tackles

91 Charles Alexander 6-3, 310, Sr.
92 Drake Nevis 6-1, 294, Jr.
97 Al Woods 6-4, 323, Sr.
71 Cordian Hagans 6-4, 285, Fr.
94 Akiem Hicks 6-6, 300, Jr.
50 Chris Davenport 6-4, 318, Fr.
77 Josh Downs 6-1, 277, Fr.

Chavis seems to like his DE's to be more in the 250-260 lb range with better speed. I don't think he likes the Saban type 290 lb DE's.

I think Edwards has been movd to DT. Also, If Logan puts on 15 lbs during his redshirt year, he could get moved inside to DT.

Just for kicks, I pulled this gem off of a Bama site

quote:

Sidell needs to go somewhere else. The guy had his chance to come to Bama. Now that LSU is going in the crapper and Bama is about to reel off a couple natty championship runs..... he needs to go to S. Alabama and play for Coach Jones.

If he can't crack the rotation in Baton Rouge, he ain't gonna do it here. Our talent level on the D-line is so far ahead of LSU's right now.

Sorry Sidell. You made the wrong choice. MOVE ON.

Besides, we're not even sure Saban would have recruited this kid the way Shula or Miles did. Saban likes BEEF baby. To me, Sidell is another Antonio Coleman. Average player but standout for a lesser SEC team.

STFU. His mom was murdered and he moved back home to be close to his family. He was going to see major PT this year. God what an idiot.

phelon tucked and ran because he got beat out by better players

I think sidell may have just wanted to be near home. That is understandable

Should Sidell transfer to Bama consider the irony. If I recall (correct me if I'm wrong) but didn't we essentially take Sidell over Luther Davis in that recruiting class? Bama will have both and we neither.

This certainly doesn't take into account all that transpired in between, i.e., I really don't think we'll miss him that much on the field.

my buddy is OC at a local high school in Mobile, he told me when he was signed that he would never play and the only reason he was offered had to be to keep the pipe line open in Mobile. Good luck he will probably end up at USA.

Did your friend state his opinion on Phelon, too? Just curious.
