And somehow makes the defensive backfield better. Guy is incredible and by far best DB coach in all of football. And Jones might be best DC in SEC. Jmho

Pressuring the quarterback made the difference, not losing our 2 best corners.

That’s not what happened. The defensive backfield used to be leaned on to man up with the best receivers in the game. Once we lost those guys we stopped doing that and played a lot of two-deep safeties or a loose man that kept the action in front of us. The defensive backfield was no longer asked to perform Herculean feats.

This was a sensible defensive adjustment that is normalcy for most defenses. But in no way did our defensive backfield become better.

Yes and No. I like to go positive and give Corey the credit.

There’s nothing wrong with that. Need more positivity around here. I thought this was another thread dissing sting and ricks.

Typical responses. If you don’t think Raymond and Jones coached that defense up you must stupid beyond belief. Retards

I do hope that the new coach retains him and, frankly, you could do worse than keeping Daronte Jones. This was his first year as a DC and he did a hell of a job despite some tough circumstances. You have to think that he will only get better.

The move back to 3-4/3-3-5 was the difference. Gives them more blitz versatility. Also, 8 is a natural OLB.

We probably should keep DC he and Corey did a great job with all the injuries we had. Probably best defensive next to Georgia for back end of season

Add to that Clark is one of the most improved players that I’ve seen in all of college football.

Absolutely no denying that.

Agree 100%. Remember all the busted coverages and teams throwing all over us. Young kids stepped up. Daronte, Cory, Carter and Baker all kicked arse as coaches in the backside of the season. Having kids that wanted to play and make their mark plus coaching and scheme changes made a big difference.

“Sting” was the main problem on defense in game 1. We were playing 10 on 11 all game. He was either getting ran over in the run game, not even attempting to fill in on the run game, or getting torched when the game was on the line.

No effort, no physicality. He was just kind of there. Good riddance. He was a bad player his last 2 seasons and he was probably overrated in his first season.

Simply not true. Not happy with him but he played well and is certainly not overrated as you will see in the upcoming draft.

Being a high draft choice is based on potential moreso than collegiate performance. I like what Corey has done with the players that he had available.

They blitzed a lot more than normal the past 4 games, so even though what you said has some legs, it’s only partially true. There was a ton of cover zero called in the game vs aTm.

Stingley has been the "Ben Simmons" of college football. Ego bigger than talent. Terrible work effort.
