A guy that has been coaching Div. 1 baseball for 25+ years has a few former players that don't like him very much? WHAT A PIECE OF shite

I have a good friend who left LSU baseball a few years back that just said there's a respect issue between Maineri and the players. It could have just been that roster, I don't know. He might have just had sour grapes over the deal. It's probably a little bit of all of that. there's just two sides to everything.

Besides, isn't pretty well known that baseball coaches are notorious for being assholes?

I don't know that I've ever met one I liked, to be honest.

This is GREAT news for LSU fans. I wish we could lock Beth Torina in for 10 more seasons. I am pretty level headed with LSU athletics, but there is no doubt in my mind she will win multiple national championships at LSU. She is the hottest young name in the sport, and with the Florida coach being so young, I don't see her leaving for many years.

Did her staff get a raise as well? I know there was talk of Dobson possibly leaving at one point. I think we should try to make sure he stays with Beth.

He needs to learn to get out of his own way on some of these pitching moves or relinquish pitching moves/decisions to Dunn.

Agreed

If he does, I don't give a shite how much he trashes players in the media.

Disagree. There is no way in hell this can have any positive effect on the players in the clubhouse. He wants to chew arse and point fingers or call out players...fine...do it within the confines of the locker room behind closed doors....not in the media where it makes him look like a total dikhole who is deflecting and passing blame for his own errors.

Other than Dobson being a candidate for the Arkansas job, I haven't really heard anything. I feel like I read a good article awhile back on Dobson and his family enjoying Baton Rouge.

He's done a phenomenal job with hitting, but if I were an athletic director with a lot money to throw around, he wouldn't be my first choice. I know Southern Miss is kind of a dead end program, but you could find better "up and comers"

This is all just talk. Who fricking cares if he "looks like a total dikhole (sic)" if he stops making these silly pitching moves in crunch time and eventually leads us to another title? Until you can show me that his "throwing players under the bus" directly leads to us losing, I couldn't care less what he says to the media.

Good thing our players aren't as big of pussies as our fans.

Like CLM, CPM is obviously a great program steward but needs all in-game decision making outsourced.

Is EXTREMELY overblown by people on this board.

I have read very very few things he has ever said that is actually calling out a player.
Nothing but blank ammo used by his haters.

And CPM did loose some of my support and respect with the bullpen management, or lack there of.

Glenn, Zardon, Newman, Poche. Just the recent ones. We can rehash the quotes but very very few other coaches would say to the media what he says in regards to players. To their face... Fine with me. Zero problem.

But about former players... More than a few, some well known who had good careers, disliked the guy. Enough to fire him? Of course not. I agree it comes down to results. But it's telling.

Mainieri's personality is a bit hard to swallow, but I think he's the best coach we have out of Miles, Jones, and himself.

Torina is a must keep but she isnt going anywhere ever unless the program were to miraculously fall apart. She has top classes coming in over five years, talent will never be an issue. The only place she would ever go would be UF but that coach is very young as well so it looks like Beth will be our coach for a very long time. I believe she will set more and more records here at LSU and will no doubt bring home titles. Torina and her family LOVE BR and LSU. As does the staff, we are in great hands. The future is bright for LSU softball

Honestly the only scenario I see is Walton leaving Florida out of just being bored. He's not even much older than Torina. But I don't see why he'd ever leave Florida other than a new challenge, but it's not like Florida won't match any other school's offer

I usually try and not call people a piece of shite unless I know them or they do something that just can't be defended like beat their wife. I guess some high school coach's opinion is enough for me to change that mentality though.
