Spruce up the PMAC all you want. If you have a shite team, no one is going to show. Facility upgrades are a tool from a past era. People will show up to an old dump if the team is winning (Cameron Indoor Stadium and Allen Fieldhouse and aren't exactly modern marvels). The PMAC will fill up if the team is winning (see WBB and Gymnastics). Take the money that would be donated for facility upgrades and funnel it to NIL. THAT is what it will take to get the great players...who will produce wins...who will produce bigger crowds.

No one banged the drum harder for facility upgrades than Will Wade when he was at LSU. Yet, when asked this summer which he thought was more important to the success of a program, great facilities or NIL money, the choice was easy. NIL. Otherwise, you are going to have MMMF (Mid Major Mother Fu**kers) getting their asses kicked in a really nice gym.

A spruced up PMAC or even new arena is used for so much more than athletics
Graduates receive their diplomas in that dump
What's wrong with making it a showpiece for the university whether men's hoops suck or not

Forget renovations, tear it down and start over.
You can easily play a season downtown at the River Center if you have to, gymnastics just had a meet downtown.

People seem to forget that the University of Arkansas has a lot more money than LSU.

One call to the Walton family, Tyson foods or Jerry Jones.

The Arkansas arena is REALLY NICE but they have Walton money.

The PMAC is fine though, we don't have Walton money. We have OT money and no matter how baller you think you are it is NOT near Walton money. I don't feel like I am missing out on anything other than a quality product on the court right now.

I don’t go to sporting events to see stadiums, especially ones that are local that I’ve already seen

but also a better football, baseball and women’s basketball team than them, so it doesn’t seem to be giving them an advantage.

Men's basketball makes more money than baseball and women's bball combined.

Basketball this year was so depressing I didn’t bother filling out a bracket, don’t even know who is in or out, and have no plans to purposefully watch a minute of the tournament. I may watch the ladies if they get to the sweet 16. That’s the state of basketball fandom right now. Dressing up the pmac isn’t going to change it. If a new coach requires it to come in and make a difference, fine. If it keeps Kim happy fine. But I wouldnt watch a MM coached team in an nba arena, and our recruiting shows no improvement coming.

2 of 3 of these are wrong. Much prefer Death Valley to Walmart stadium. Alex Box is equally nice. PMAC is coming

Objectively, we’re behind on updating most facilities. Basketball is just horrible.
The Box is NOT equally nice compared to other recently updated SEC venues.

It's not a "Will Wade thread". It's the perspective of a coach regarding the importance of facilities relative to what is now seen as necessary for a successful program in the age of NIL.

Frankly, the determination of his detractors is even more ridiculous as we watch an NCAA Tournament LSU is not only absent from, but has been out of the conversation of for over 3 months. But feel free to dedicate millions to build a new arena that will largely sit empty because no one wants to watch a perpetually losing program.

The PMAC is old. It looks outdated compared to modern architecture. Nevertheless, it would be packed to the gills if it housed a championship contending men's basketball program.

Wow you guys got furious over facts. For everyone saying I should become a hog fan, I live in NWA currently, went to high school there, chose LSU over Arkansas as my parents went to LSU and my wife is an Arkansas grad.

I have attended many basketball games and baseball games there and objectively I can say their facilities in general are nicer. Maybe they have more money, but we have more successful programs and in this day and age, facilities do matter.

Sorry that I want LSU to be the best program around.

William Wade was on his way to upgrading from the place. It's all a shame. Seeing him and Kramer's mom succeeding together would have been nice.
