40 will prolly secure the edge. Gang tackling mentality.

That's what I noticed as well was the gang tackling by Texas.

Man it needs to be that way. I want to see 5-6 gold hats on them at all times.

Kelly said the strategy to beat Miss St was to shut down the RB in the passing game. State would use that to get ahead on early downs and open up their offense.

Bama uses Gibbs in the passing game a lot (most receptions on team) and he doesn't get as many touches as a RB as you would think. I expect House to use a similar approach in this game.

I like Baskerville and Perkins, but Gibbs is a different level of fast from these 2, or any other LB.

It needs to be a gang mentality. Corners have to come down and tackle and we might need to anchor a safety near the box, like Brooks.

Can’t go for his feet. He wins that battle 9/10 times. Have to commit to wrapping him up.

Gibbs has 31 receptions. LSU has a combined 28 by RBs (Williams the most with 14) and Bama has 45 total. It's a big part of their offense.

Exactly. For the first time in 4-5 years Bama does NOT have a cadre of WRs that scares us. We need to hold up in coverage and free up a S like Brooks (savy vet) to keep an eye on Gibbs.

We also need to be ready to see their running QB, especially around the goal line. Don't let that guy break any big ones.

Know your assignment, run to the ball, and tackle well in space. And when they do get an explosive play, flush it and regroup. Compete for 4 quarters.
You got this Tigers!

I'm more worried about the deep shots. Tennessee killed us with them and Ole Miss did early.

I've said it a bunch on here, Gibbs is a hell of a player. You can't go to sleep on him.

True. And Young is much better than Dart and is going to exploit what we give him. My guess is we will mix some zone to avoid big plays with occasional man and make them drive the field.

But Young is good enough to identify what we are trying to take away and pick us apart if we just sit in zone. Dart made some good throws early and was hitting crossing routes over the middle because the LB's were focused on stopping the run.

This is a good game to have Burns back as he can play centerfield. I think Garner and JBC can hold their own on Bama's best two WR's. But Gibbs and Latu (their TE) are going to be important to stop so they don't just move the chains and stay on schedule.

Gibbs is fast af and really the only player on their offense who really scares me.

The Texas LB or safety here lost eye dripline and broke late which caused him to miss the tackle.

I started a thread about containing J Gibbs about a week ago and got major downvoted. Still think I'm correct in my assessment. He and the slippery QB have to be contained for our defense to shine...
