Damn, at the rate the story keeps changing, it’ll be “we had 11 players playing both ways” pretty soon.

We seriously have some dumbest fans in the world and I honestly did not realize that until the last couple weeks.

It wasn’t far from that. What is the real number? 39 scholarship players? WR at QB, many were saying we could/should forfeit.

So we just imagined the WR playing QB and having 42 scholarship player during the bowl game last year. Got it.

That’s not what the rankings say. Read them and weep.

6 of the 39 were actually walkons given scholarships by O as an appreciation gift. 60 percent of your team is gone….. but we had all these great recruiting classes.

It’s like me saying I brushed my teeth, combed my hair twice a day, shaved and took a bath everyday ….so that makes me a supermodel. If you conveniently leave out the 500 pound gorilla in the room, everything in life is possible.

That’s a real hollow comparison. I can sign all of the top wr and Rb and be ranked high, but if I didn’t fill needs, or balance the class then it doesn’t really matter.
A better analysis would be , who’s left from those early classes and who’s contributing

What’s scary is that we are going to lose a lot more games this year, you know because we are not good and the rebuild is still very early, and this loud and idiotic minority is going to lose their small limited minds and be ready to run BK out w pitch forks. They will take to Twitter/social media and make our national image more toxic. All in the name of …..

muh we paying him 10 million a year, he should try the back up QB

Did not play in the Texas Bowl, but are still with the team this season. There were a lot of covid protocol and injury issues. There were many other scratches for draft opt outs and transfers which is to be expected when an entire coaching staff is being let go and you have a lot of draft eligible players.

All of this is really moot because we’re up to 72 scholarship players and they’ve gotten rid of the 25 signing limit, so Kelly can sign as many recruits as he wants to get back to 85.

In January of 2022 this team had 40 players on it…..recruiting rankings don’t mean shite with that kind of attrition.

Just because we have 72 scholarship guys now doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter that we had on the 30s mere months ago. The quality of guys in those 72 is not what it will be in a couple of years.

Every program has to deal with attrition, graduates, the transfer portal, etc. Quit crying and quit making excuses. This is LSU football not Vanderbilt.

Do you think the attrition we saw over the last 2 years is normal? It’s definitely not.

The better players in those classes left except for 2022, which wasn't that great.

We ahave a few good players, but probably need twice that many for quality rotations.

For Tenn. our best RB was out , 2 best OL out
Best DL out, Burns out, Ward dinged up and 2 or 3 others. Some transfers are from FCS schools Their replacements were not that good.

We have 2 good LBs - we need 4 or 5

The talent level is not where it needs to be, but that is the group we have.

We will probably be favored to win 1, maybe 2 games.

This guy here is a perfect example of the idiocy of the LSU fanbase. At least the fanbase on this site. I would say at least 80% of them are dumb as a rock and have no clue as to what it takes to build a program back from the bottom and that is where we were in Jan 2022. I doubt BK has been a winner EVERYWHERE he has coached because he was an idiot or got lucky like Coach O and got him a Borrow and a Brady. I'll wait for 3 years and then judge. I'll criticize but judging takes way more body of work.

2019-5th

Stingley - draft
Brooks - transfer
Palmer - transfer
Hampton - transfer
Ika - transfer
TDP - draft
Parker - dismissed
Starks - dismissed
Lee - transfer
Parrish - transfer
Flott - draft
Evans - transfer
York - draft

8 of the top 10 players in that class are no longer on the team. 6 of those 8 transferred or were dismissed.
quote:

2020-4th

Gilbert - transfer
Ricks - transfer
Bradford - transfer
White - transfer
Johnson - transfer
Taylor - transfer
McGlothern - transfer
Moore - transfer
Finley - transfer
Evans - out of eligibility
Shanahan - out of eligibility
Cox - out of eligibility

The top 2 players in the class, who largely drove the score, are gone. At least 12 of the 25 players in the class are gone. Maybe more.
quote:

2021-5th

D. Smith - transfer
Jackson - transfer
Kiner - transfer
Strong - transfer
Cage - transfer

2 of the top 10 are gone. The rest are basically our team, as true sophomores / RS freshmen.
quote:

2022-13th

3 of our 15 HS recruits are starting as true freshmen. Another is a major contributor. None of them except for Perkins should really be contributing at all as true freshmen, but we have no other options at OT or TE.

A lot has been made of the scholarship numbers in the bowl last year. It’s true that many of the players who were not available in the bowl ultimately returned this year. That being said, we still only had ~52 (by my count) returning scholarship players by the time the season started. This is astounding when you consider that nobody lost any eligibility in 2020.

There is a reason we signed 15 transfers, and it’s because our depth was shite. Put defensive backfield is a miracle compared to what it looked like in December.

Orgeron was a good recruiter but he was terrible at roster management.
