Everyone that supports players opting out are going to be the same ones mad when college football becomes similar to basketball.

It sucks for the fans, but it's hard to blame him.

He has absolutely no direction to go but down from where he currently is.

The LSU fan in me is extremely disappointed.

The Jamar fan in me couldn't be happier for him.

The “me” and selfishness is on your part for wanting him to come back when it’s not in his best self interest.

That smells like confirmation (as did the 100% report from the reporter this weekend).

He could have "told us first" if this tweet is acknowledging the leaks that he is, in fact, leaving. Every other player we've had over the years may have had rumors swirling about leaving/staying, but someone gave that rumor confirmation and it could only have been Chase. He could have stayed mum about the situation until he made an announcement himself. But he didn't, and it seems like he's trying to save face now after the backlash he received. And even that tweet doesn't do anything but pass the blame instead of doing what others have done and making a farewell statement, however scripted and canned those statements may be.

I think should probably explain what changed the past couple weeks after he affirmed his commitment to the season as recently as a week ago and why he waited so long and so close to the season starting to opt out.

Oh for fricks sake please spare us. I’m not saying I like it but you really can’t blame the dude.

You wanna talk about being about the guys around you? Chase has absolutely nothing to prove. You know who does have a lot to prove? Racey McMath, whom Chase just gifted a ton more targets for his final season to be able to prove himself.

Is that being selfish?

When every good player starts doing it and college football becomes similar to basketball, let’s hear your tune then.

Agreed it’s the best choice for him
Many here have a problem w the new socialist left....
What Jamarr is doing is an example of how a God given talent and hard work come together to give someone and their family a comfortable and financially sound future.
That is the American dream and I can’t fault a kid for cashing in on his success
Good luck Jamarr, make the LSU nation proud in the NFL

He cannot raise his stock any more, but he can hurt it if Brennan does not deliver. Look at the difference between where Delpit was projected after his sophomore year versus junior year. That can happen to Ja'marr Chase, so good luck Mr. Chase. Thanks for best offense in the history of college football.

He can also hurt it by not playing if guys like Jaylen Waddle, Devonta Smith, etc have big seasons. Right now he's projected as a top 5 overall pick. That paid Tua about $20MM this past draft. Let's say he drops down 10-15 spots and isn't the first WR taken. That could cut that bonus in half if we use 2020 slots as a baseline. This isn't a no-risk situation as many seem to think. This isn't sitting out a bowl game or sitting out the last few games of the season if a minor injury occurs. This is opting out of an entire season where others may play to boost their stock. Right now, he has one year of game film. People could possibly question how much an effect Burrow had on that, as he doesn't have freakish measurables. His stock is in his play, not his physical attributes. A big year in 2020 after his big season in 2019 would solidify his stock.

And on a side note, for people who care about college football, this could be a disturbing trend if players begin opting out after a big sophomore season. We've seen the precursor with guys like Fournette/McCaffery sitting out bowl games and guys like Bosa deciding not to pay the rest of almost an entire season after an injury that would have sidelined him a month. Especially with this new push to pay these guys in college, this may be a slippery slope for college football players in general. And as a fan of a college team, I don't like what I'm seeing.

Why does everyone choose to ignore that LSU would pay for a 10 million dollar insurance policy for him?

The "Opt Out" guys are totally self centered and self-absorbed.

It's only about them. They could care less about Louisiana State University, the LSU football program and their teammates. LSU football is just a short term means and ends to get to the NFL.

I could care less about any of them individually. I'm only concerned with the LSU football TEAM. Leaving your TEAM a few weeks before the season starts, shows what kind of character is present in the individual. (Or lack of)

Lots of the LSU football butt kissers on here. (The program idolizers and worshippers that have never played a second of any team sports and have no idea about the TEAM.) You're basically spitting in the face of the guys on your TEAM when you depart at a late date like this.

It's no problem though to all the "Wish him Well" groupies.

If it was to be a top 5 pick, scouts probably wanted to see if he could be the clear go to guy AND get it done without a 1st round QB.

Eh you can evaluate a WR separately from the QB.

A good QB doesn’t get you separation in your route. A good QB doesn’t go up catch the ball over a WR. A Good QB doesn’t help you run once you have the ball.

There are 0 WRs who are going to look better with a bad QB, but you can still judge how good a WR is with a good QB.

If anything, it shows why you should be allowed to leave after your sophomore year. NCAA really needs to change the rule on this one.

It isn't the NCAA's rule, and the NFL has no incentive to change that rule
