The people in this community are too spoiled and stupid to understand this.

Really developing a disdain for the media. Ja’Marr deserved the opportunity to announce and explain on his own terms.

Look at his liked tweets. A dude is attacking LSU football's account for not including Ja'Marr Chase in the wide receiver video (a video showing FORMER LSU players in college and NFL).

Do I really need to? If he doesn’t play he’s a top 10 pick. If he does there’s always a possibility that he could rupture an Achilles or shatter a knee and drop. People acting like that’s not a risk are being emotional and foolish.

I’m not in his situation, and it may seem unwarranted for me to try and relate. In my armchair status, I say football is a team sport. You’re supposed to be about the guys around you. These guys starting this “opting out” trend shows a lot of “me” and selfishness.

Money changes all that.

At some point you do have to make decisions for yourself.

It’s easy to be selfless when you don’t have anything to really risk.

He cannot raise his stock any more, but he can hurt it if Brennan does not deliver. Look at the difference between where Delpit was projected after his sophomore year versus junior year. That can happen to Ja'marr Chase, so good luck Mr. Chase. Thanks for best offense in the history of college football.

"Wisest" is relative and we'll never be able to truly say if it was the best choice or not. But there is very reasonable logic in his decision. However, it's not a completely "risk proof" decision.

By not playing, he allows other players the opportunity to pass him up on the boards. Not just WR's. WR is not necessarily a "premium" position in the draft like other positions - QB, DE/OLB, OT, CB, being the most valued. When WR's are taken really high, often times it is because of freak athletic ability such as blazing speed, or really good speed combined with great size. It's why Henry Ruggs was the 1st WR off the board this year despite guys like Jeudy, Jefferson, Lamb being more polished and having more production.

Chase likely isn't going to be a combine freak. He's not exceptionally tall or fast. That could cause him to drop from a top 5 guy to a mid/late first rounder. If his goal is simply to go in the first round, then skipping this season probably isn't a big deal. If it was to be a top 5 pick, scouts probably wanted to see if he could be the clear go to guy AND get it done without a 1st round QB.

this risk isn't new. So why the sudden change of heart shortly before the start of the season?

No issue with the decision, don't care for the timing of it though. But hey its his life/money
