Look, losing Chase sucks. There's no way around that. For all those who are super butthurt about it, please join me in the following guided excercise:

1) Put down your phone/mouse/whatever.

2) Close your eyes.

3) Replay 3rd and 13 in your mind's eye, followed by Burrow with the stogie.

4) Breath in deeply as much as you can and hold it for 5 seconds.

5) Open your eyes.

6) Exhale and repeat the following phrase: "GOT THE NAT!"

The pain of losing Chase is ephemeral and petty. The joy of 2019 will live on forever.

Money talks...

He just should ha e done this to his teammates before it went this far and he got the #7. They named him. A leader because he said he was staying and then he quit.
Not cool

QUIT. I get the rational. But not like that.

He will now get paid for the same job he was previously doing for free. How is this difficult to understand?

It sucks but it’s the wisest choice

Please explain.
1) He's established himself as a first round pick
2) No organized spring football, no real schedule (just an SEC exhibition)
3) there will be no unified national champ (a major contender ain't even playing)
4) the NCAA has already said it wouldn't count the year against eligibility, further highlighting how iffy this year is
5) many things are being delayed, but biological age isn't. He will get older, it is a calendar year
6) People have no idea the impact of covid in reality, and there's been outbreaks on the team and likely on campus

He could stick around and do a 10 game exhibition, which might get cut short. Or he could pull out, train privately, and enter the draft next year without penalty.

Why does the QB at Clemson not opt out then? He’s in all probability the number 1 pick with no higher potential, but he’s still planning to play with all the inherent risk ?

He made a choice

But I also Don’t think he’s a slam dunk #1 if Fields plays a season.

I totally agree and that would be a big mistake for most players, but chase isn’t just a good player, he’s a lock to be a top 5-7 pick. That’s a tiny group of players ever year, and this isn’t a normal year, there’s tons of uncertainty. It won’t work for guys that are borderline 1st/2nd round picks, they will only hurt their stock. It only works for someone like chase because he literally can’t top the production he already achieved

No he's not. He's probably a lock to be a top 3-4 WR in the draft, but no he is not a lock to be a 5-7 pick.

Because he didn't opt out yet. Last week Chase hadn't, either. If Lawrence opts out next week, he's still the strong #1. He just has decided to play this season, as of now.

I think the Clemson issue is to get that bad taste out of their mouth. Etiene probably goes into the draft if they won. Lawrence likely sits out this year if they won.

Chase won the national title in the last game he played, with a huge game. Nobody will penalize him for sitting this year out. If he's done the math on it, and this is what he's decided is the best for him, then let it go.

This isn't a normal year, it's not like Clowney not playing for SC, or someone declaring for the draft early.

Myles Brennan and the team really could’ve used your services, Jamarr... Part of what makes Alabama great is that they fight to maintain their elite status with their stars returning, while once we ascended the mountain once, a lot of our players and staff feel that their job is done.

That’s why Tua, Jeudy, Ruggs are all returning in 2020 and skipped the NFL draft.

Eh I think Fields could make it an argument.

He threw more TDS last year than Lawrence did and less interceptions. Better Y/A and AY/A. And that’s while Lawrence plays in the sifted conference in the country (outside of Clemson, the team Lawrence is on)

Dude, I have no idea what world you’re living in where you think there’s a chance Chase is the 3rd or 4th WR taken in the draft, or even the 2nd WR for that matter.

Because Chase's stock is based on his play not his measurables. Lets say Waddle and Smith put up monster seasons at Alabama. Both may very well test better than him at the combine. Waddle may run the fastest 40 of anyone at the combine. shite Ruggs was the first WR taken in last year's draft and was like the 3rd option for Alabama last year.

I have no idea what world you're living in to say Chase is a lock to be a top 5-7 pick. That wouldn't be the case even if he played next year. He is not some generational freak athlete that doesn't need to play to be a top 5-7 lock. Just because you've seen some early mock drafts with him there doesn't make him a lock. A whole lot can happen between now and next April, which is why I said the only lock you can say right now is he will be one of the first 3-4 WRs taken. Draft positions, team needs, and the top guys shuffling around happens every year. I'd say the same thing about almost anyone in the draft. Outside Trevor Lawrence, you'd be hard pressed to call anyone a top 5 "lock" right now

NSFMF, Chase was going to be gone anyhow, what if one of those young studs show out and cement themselves in that position, Thomas might say Hey LSU has better WRs than Alabama has left on the depth chart.
