Are there any sportsbooks with futures odds on who will win the SECt?
Now that winner of LSU/USC tomorrow is in drivers seat and advances straight to semis on Saturday I am curious what our odds are. I’m thinking LSU is going to be playing in the championship game on Sunday at this rate.

Illinois lost today as well. So both Big 10 locks are in the losers bracket.
I undestand Illinois won the Big 10 regular season, but why are they a lock to make it with their shitty rpi of 44?
The Big 10 is on par with the Sun Belt, and i'd think most people would argue the Sun Belt is better and that the Big 10 is more on par with the SoCon or CUSA

Committee tends to give RPI leeway to northern teams sometimes.

I would think this year will be no different and you’ll have about 8 teams this year between the two with Illinois, Nebraska, Indiana coming from the Big 10 and Troy USM ULL and Coastal coming from the Sun Belt plus a possible bid stealer or 2 from those conferences

Stanford beats Oregon State and will win their pool in the Pac-12 Tournament and head to the semifinals. Could be a potential bid stealer there.
This is another case like the Big 10, where the committee may have given a spot to Cal despite a low RPI to give the PAC-12 4 bids. If Stanford were to get the auto bid, I think that would just knock Cal out of the running.

Cincinnati fighting to avoid falling to 0-2 up 4-3 on Texas in the 7th.
Northeastern is a lock for a bid coming out of the CAA, but down 12-9 in the 9th to Hofstra. Charleston and UNCW were strong candidates for at-large bids anyway, so there’d need to be more chaos before this becomes a bid steal scenario.
The same is true in the Sun Belt where ULL is down 7-0, but USM dropped Coastal Carolina to 1-1 with a 5-0 win.

Cincinnati held on to beat Texas 8-7 and move to 1-1 on the weekend.
Northeastern and ULL both lost.
In a real bid steal situation Indiana St trails S. Illinois 4-3 in the 6th and a possible one Xavier-UConn are tied 2-2 in the 6th.

Right now the tournaments that are potential bid stealers
Coastal Atlantic - Northeastern lost (still in tournament) 0-1
Big Ten - The two teams who are assumed to be in Illinois
and Nebraska are both 0-1. Nebraska is currently winning its elimination game
Pac 12 Stanford who would be a bid stealer is 2-0. They are headed to the Semi-Finals.

Looks like Vandy, LSU, and USC all played themselves into the tourney going 2-0 so far in Hoover. Bama was already good with their RPI in the teens. Florida is the only team in trouble if these bid stealers pull of their conference tournaments.
MSU about to play themselves into a host spot by going 2-0 if they hold on against A&M.

That was a 1 bid league. Going to have a bid stealer out of the Missouri Valley conference if Indiana St doesn’t win out

Indiana St’s comeback attempt in the bottom of the 11th fell just short and they lost 10-9 opening up a big opportunity for a bid thief in the MVC.
James Madison and Virginia Tech both lost weakening their bubble hopes in crowded conference fields. I never considered Va Tech a bubble team but I saw some publications that did.

Thanks for the update. Did you mean Northeastern? You have Nebraska but don’t see them in the game list.
Posted on 5/23/24 at 9:09 am to LSUMANINVA
Texas going 2nQ in the Big 12 tournament and ULL losing last night is suppressing our RPI despite our wins. We've netted about 6 spots up, after going up 5 and down 2, and then up 6 and down 3.

Sorry for any confusion you have so, Nebraska is pretty much a lock for being in. Nebraska and Illinois, and they both have lost a game in their tournament so that conference (big ten) I’m kinda keeping an eye on for a bid steal. Nebraska will not play their next game until tomorrow.
Northeastern is a 1 bid league but if northeastern loses. Another team in the league will get the auto bid and then northeastern will get an at large. Northeastern is 0-1 they lost their first game and play William and Mary today in an elimination game.
I hope I cleared up any confusion.

South Carolina beating Alabama and Arkansas was a bigger driver of the RPI drops since that was the equivalent of 6 losses for our opponents. The timing of the drops coincided with the conclusion of those two games. Of course those 3 losses didn’t help either.

Impactful Results
TCU 9-4 Kansas St FINAL
TCU moves on and is 2-1 and Kansas St is Eliminated.
Coastal Carolina 3-6 App State FINAL
Coastal Carolina ends their tournament run 1-2 and will be last four in or first four out most likely. They needed a strong tournament run to boost RPI. Good thing for other Bubble teams.
William & Mary 7-4 Northeastern 8th inning
Illinois 2-2 Iowa 8th inning.
