I remember that Washington game. It was impossible to move in the student section as there were people sitting all up and down the stairs. I believe that’s the game that changed everything because the fire marshal came in that week and said that LSU would not be allowed to just let as many students in as showed up. Until they modified the west upper deck and then added the east upper deck, that Washington game had set the record for attendance.

Back in the day all you had to do was show your student ID and you got in. All students seating was general admission on a first come first serve basis. As I recall, they clipped out a small portion of your ID at the bottom in a diamond shape. Below is what the IDs looked like back then. For each game you went to they would clip one of the numbers at the bottom of the ID.

Hilliard and James didn’t get to LSU until 1982.

It’s funny how many people have said Rice and the Jackson games as their first experiences.

Was so common place years ago and will almost certainly never happen now.

Was he the quarterback right before Matt Russell? I'm sure they were all before our Heisman Trophy winning QBs, Joe Daniels and Jayden Burrow.

September 6, 1980. Loss to Florida State. I still have my LSU ID with the clicks from attending the game. There were no assigned seats, so you just waited in the North Endzone Gate to get it.

His knee was down before the end zone. If they had play review in 1999 LSU wins.

I remember watching that game and being extremely upset when it happened. That lasted for about ten seconds. After getting over my disappointment, I realized that this would be one of the final nails in Gerry Dinardo ‘s coffin.

Between this game and the Alabama game where Josh Boody tried to be the hero when he had a receiver wide fricking open in the end zone but decided to try and bull rush his way into the endzone (after literally drawing up a play in the dirt), Gerry Dinardo was toast. That horrendous season ushered in the greatest 25 year stretch in LSU football history - starting with the hiring of Nick Saban.

First home game, 1958 vs Duke.

Honestly don't remember the date of the first road game, but it was against Ole Miss in Jackson.

Neutral site? I guess it was Oregon, but all those games run together.

Only been to home games - LINK
And this is my first - North Carolina 1949.

CHOO CHOO JUSTICE was the NC star - they were expected to win, but we upset them.

My brother invited the family down for the game and I had always thought it was an earlier year, until I looked for to cite in this thread. I had always 'recalled' that I was only 6 yrs old, - but that may be because this is the trip where I tried to jump over the stream of tiger-shite coming out of Mike's cage (Mike 1) And had to get a whole new set of clothes before the game started.

Now I'm even more embarrassed - a 10 year old should have been able to make it.
