I was referring to his 40, he was never a 4.8 guy out of HS.
His arm strength has never been said to be average either.
The rest is beyond subjective and not even worth debating anyway.

WTF is your problem? I agree with you. I'm just going by the OP's question on physical talent. And again, RP's off the field actions didn't hurt his play on the field. He made good decisions on the field. He won the game that put the team in the national championship game.

1. RP ran 4.8s at LSU and at his pro day. I would find a link for you but I'm on my cell. Can't be hard to find.
2. When you don't really shine at the 1AA level while having the ball on every snap, you don't have elite talent. All the HS accomplishments in the world doesnt change that.

Never said he didn't have a good arm. I said one guy had the strongest arm in the country, and the other guy has area for improvement arm strength. I'm just talking about his arm in comparison to RP. If his arm was a cannon, which it doesn't have to be by the way, why would it be an area for improvement? Look, I think Kiel will be great, but as far as physical talent, he's nowhere near RP.

And he ran a 4.4 in high school. His career had already gone downhill by the time he got to the 1AA level. HS accomplishments do matter when that was entirely what this topic is about.

The fact of the matter is it really doesnt matter who was probably more highly rated or talented coming out of high school. Gunner has all the necessary essentials to improve and a WORLD of top class athletes surrounding him, Tommy Moffit to strengthen him and Krag to improve his QB skills to possibly help him get to a point in his career where he will have accomplished enough to be selected high in the NFL draft.

Running a 4.4 40 on your HS stopwatch isnt accurate and doesnt mean anything. Thousands of slower kids do that every year.
I think LSU fans are more concerned with skill and talent than HS accomplishments.

While maybe GK is not as fleet of feet as RP, it does look like he knows how and when to run and is quick enough to keep defenses honest. He looked a lot more mobile than I expected. With our running game, play action is going to be a bitch for defenses. But I also think ZM will bring that in 2012 as well.

Now I am not saying that RP didnt deserve 5* or that he couldnt have been a grear QB at LSU. But just because he had great HS stats and 5 stars doesnt mean he had Vince Young speed (well short) or Matthew Stafford arm strength. (well short) He was like Tebow, great instincts and a very nice overall skill set.

Some wanted RP to be the great one , I am not sure he would have been any better than JJ .The only thing for sure I know . Is that GK is going to find out that The SEC is a lot faster than HS football. After that then we will know how good he can or cannot be . If he is as good as The Mannings ? Oh my , we gonna have fun .

I think this goes for every recruit. Look at the number 1 recruit in the country DGB, plays against nothing but slow white boys in Missouri

Being from the River Parishes, I saw a ton of RP. He was a beast of an athlete. He was basically an elusive slightly faster Tebow as far a running the ball. In that case only an elite athlete is going to catch him in the open field. He could throw accurate darts. His arm stenght was a powerful as any QB I have seen in college lately outside of probably Stafford and Vick. Just look up the SECCG highlights from 2007 to see the some of the throws he could make. The mental aspect is what makes or breaks a QB though, and RP didn't have it.

You are correct. He was missing half of the mental aspect. Unfortunately, the other half was so far off it would count in horseshoes or handgrenades.
