Kiel from what I have learned he is a very accurate pocket passer. We don't need a running qb with all the high quality RB's. They say he has a quick release & pin point accuracy.

That's also who Rivals has compared him to.
(Out of high school, of course).

RP's physical talent level was overrated. Pretty good arm, great quickness, mediocre speed (4.8 40). What RP had in HS that made him the best was insane instincts to go with that athletic ability.

Some Louisiana people want to talk like he had cecil collins potential lost, he didn't.

I'm not discrediting anything. I said it doesn't matter for this discussion because the OP specifically asked about physical talent. I think RP actually made good decisions on the field. So his off the field stuff didn't hurt his play on the field. He made some amazing throws in the SEC championship game to give the team a chance to play for a national title.

rivals tell us that RP is dual threat. Gunner, pro style.

hopefully Gunner will have two or three years to learn/mature before he takes the field as starter. that would imply that someone else older is able to take command for a year or two. I sure hope so.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think what we have hear is some people trying to diminish RP's skills to prop up Kiel. There's no reason for that. Kiel will be great, but RP was as good of a talent at qb as has ever come out of high school. People saying RP couldn't run. People even saying Kiel has the same arm strength as RP. Scout.com lists arm strength as an area for improvement. Not saying that means he has a weak arm because he doesn't, but one guy had the strongest arm in the country and the other guy has area for improvement arm strength.

But RP was a dual threat with a cannon for an arm and pinpoint accuracy.

Wut what? Common knowledge that RP was slower than Flynn. He was quicker and more agile though. There is a reason that RP didnt look like the 1AA version of Vince Young at JSU, he was never a physically elite talent.

Wut? What is happening here? People already forgot how good RP was. Matt Flynn ran a 4.4 forty?

no. RP was a high school legend. just comparing the two qb's as objectively as possible judging by watching both their high school highlight videos. Perrilloux had good "tuck it and run" speed. Kiel has a damn good arm. Go watch Kiel's senior highlight video

We are talking about a QB, the most CEREBRAL position on a team. Mental ability = physical ability when it comes to qb. You CANNOT not include it. He is not a rb, wr. Qb is between the ears. So gtfo with that shite.

RP was never that fast, his play on the field at LSU and JSU shows that, his tryout 40s show that.

RP in HS and his talent level (and even his overall game) was closer to Tebow than Vince Young.

Kiel ran for 400 yards and 10 td's. He is hardly a statue back there. Better yet, watch his highlights, but only watch his feet.

Makes you realize how unrefined JL is.
