I'm not reading all 5 pages, but I'll assume that there have been alot of posts about RP having character issues and that devalues him and that GK has better football smarts. Well the opinions about RP are all in hindsight.

I'll ask this, if it were 2005 again, and GK was also a prospect alongiside RP, who would you have wanted at that point? I have to think that 90% of us would have wanted RP. The OP asked about talent on the field. In this area, RP was simply better in high school than GK.

Kiel has a quick step bounce in the pocket where he checks down from receiver to receiver before making a very accurate release. Reminds me of Drew Brees.

As for RP, he has more of a total dual-threat and stronger arm. He's more of a Vince Young/Mike Vick type IMO.

Keil will hopefully prove more adept at a traditional passing game which gives LSU a +1 edge, and combine with his solid run skills, he can have some Tebow like moves at the goal line due to his size.

Upstairs and in heart, which you claim are irrelevant, are the biggest intangible differences here.

RP was the better physical specimen by a nice margin. He also played 5A ball in Louisiana compared to whatever Gunner plays in Indiana. There were always questions about his attitude and such, so it still isn't a complete slam dunk. But being the Louisiana kid and the mentality of locking down the state and Louisiana, especially when Louisiana actually has a stud QB, would have 99% of fans wanting RP.

RP>GK as far as coming out of hs.

Diagree..GK better decision maker...which is what we have needed all along...a qb that can make quicker dedisions on the field...spit second on where to go with the ball....

Perrilloux was by far the best high school QB I've ever seen, maybe best player period. He was head and shoulders above any other player on the field, and that was in 5A Louisiana high school football against other elite athletes down in the river parishes.

I've only seen some tape on Kiel, but I don't think he's even close to RP. Not a knock on Kiel either, I think he's great, Perrilloux was just THAT good.

the QB position is a cerebral position...at this elite level physical gifts are a given... so i will go with Kiel as being better and having more upside. For a QB, what goes on between the ears is more important than how far you can chuck the ball or being able to run the forty in 4.3 seconds.

Why do people assume Perrilloux wasn't cerebral on the field?

He was a pass first QB and anyone who saw him play knew that. Don't pay attention to what rivals listed him as.

Hes bee the best pure passer to come out in the last several years. But as a hs qb id say rp just cus he was a one man wrecking crew in la.

Gunner is gonna be good, but we just dont know if he will be as good as stafford or barkley.

Don't make the mistake of assuming that they are judging Perriloux's field smarts based upon his dual threat classification.

Rivals puts QBs into two bins. Perriloux was way more pro-style than most dual-threat QBs. Kiel is way more dual-threat than most pro-style QBs.

ETA: Don't let the morons shite on RP.
Rivals says that RP ran a 4.5 40.
He had a huge game against Tennesee in the SECCG: 20/30 for 243 yards.
He was the Offensive Player of the Year for his conference his last year in college.

This thread just made me realize that Perrilloux is the best QB to come out of LA since 2006!

I don't think there has been a QB recruit in the state that even comes close. The best in-state prospect since then was JJ.

FWIW: I'd take the QB with the better footwork and accuracy. That would be Kiel.
