Compare last night to last year’s LA Tech game

Both years you have a big win against Clemson week 1, with people crowning you a title contender going into this game. Then you get LA Tech at home. There are horrendous offensive struggles in the first half.
Last year, the second half was also pretty ugly and the final score ends up being 7-23 with the 1s starting the whole game.
Last night the first half is like a mirror image of last year’s game. But you know what? We actually have a coach this year. The halftime adjustments are made, and we kick the shite out of them (all due respect) in the second half. That is why there is reason to feel optimistic after last night.

This is the best defense LSU has had in a very long time. It is a championship defense. The offense can move the ball but has red zone issues to work through.
Offense needs to remain patient and not force the issue, protect the possession. Keep time possession on your side which allows the defense to actually serve as a playmaker when it’s on the field.
If LSU loses games this season it will be because TOP is flipped and the defense tires.

They will make the playoffs if they do this. Take what their defense gives us and trust our own defense.

Both years had bad QB play. D is another story. This D is better than anything Saban had here.

That defense last night was the best I've ever seen from an LSU team. Tech didn't get its first 1st down from scrimmage until early in the fourth quarter -- they had gotten 3 first downs in the third quarter, all via penalty. And this was the same Tech team that scored 80 points on ~ 600 yards the week before.

I believe in this year's defense also. They look great with studs at every level. However....Clemson and Louisiana Tech have poor offenses. This week will begin the real tests, Chambliss, Lacy and Ole Miss away.

Very true. I felt like the whole first half that Kiffin was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Be more patient, take what they will give you even if it's not what you want. The longer the offensive possession, the better, until you reach the second half. Then, when their defense gets tired, you take bigger chunks of the field with each bite.
That said, I think we see a lot more of the offense this week than we have to this point. We have been showing Ole Missy what we want them to see.

Clemson has a horrific offense and last night was LaTech. Not saying they won’t be awesome all year, but that’s a big statement to make. 2003 was fricking nasty.

I think we’re better, especially the defense, but not elite. The offensive turnovers were very concerning.

Best defense since 2011.
Offense needs to dominate time of possession and not force stupid plays.
O line could also play better.
Other than that this is a championship team.
