Now a few days before kickoff, what does everyone think? I would've liked the columnist to make a case for saying someone ranked below LSU is deserving to be ranked above the Tigers.

Can you refute anything he said?

Seems pretty logical to me.

Yeah, my case against him is find a team ranked 12-25 that's better.

Not exactly hard...

First line:

Preseason rankings are worthless.

A preseason ranking can mean the difference between a national championship or not. Therefore they are not worthless.

Miles didn't really say this did he?

The better question is what is this colossal crap doing on an LSU website? He talks about our weaknesses and not any of our strengths. OUr Oline is one of the best, our running back situation is probably one of the best as well. Our recieving corps has experience and not to mention RR will tear it up this year. And am I the only one that thought after last year, the only way our defense could go was up? Can't get any worse, and i doubt it wouldn't get better. How much better could it get? Alot. Not only do we have an upgrade at 3 coaching positions (Esp linebacker, as Chief is a LB guru and has had multiple good ones at Tenn), but i believe our secondary will be flawless, and i look for Alem and Levingston coming off the corners like bats outta hell, with harry coleman causing fumbles and cracking helmets. I really don't know why everyone is doubting this team this year. I hope it just makes them work that much harder.

Not just an LSU website.

That is the student newspaper.

Maybe it's because you weren't that good last year?

Good place to start...

Having to start a freshman QB + QB starter battle pretty much the entire season + shitty co-DC setup

This is why we sucked it up last year.

And all doesn't apply. LSU is probably the second most consistently dominant team after USC over the past decade. And that is after factoring in last year. Just one off year did not kill this program, and the inherent talent on the team is the main reason why many pundits think LSU is the only team in the SEC to truly challenge UF.

I agree there

quote:

Our recieving corps has experience and not to mention RR will tear it up this year

Yet no one has stepped up into the #2 or #3, we are still waiting on players to live up to their hype. Toliver the player most expect to be the #2 only had 22 catches last year. Here is too hope though.
I am not sure RR will put up Clayton type numbers, that LSU team threw the ball at will this one should be more run oriented.

quote:

the only way our defense could go was up? Can't get any worse,

Again I agree

quote:

believe our secondary will be flawless

Debatable at this point since that was LSU weakest area last season

“There’s not any plans right now to play any quarterback other than Jordan Jefferson,” Miles said. “Only specific situations would call for other play.”

I wonder if that will change if the game becomes a blowout or would he risk a Jefferson injury?
