Uh...23/34 for 250+? Huh?
They won't be dominant on offense next year, but Vlachos leaving is meaningful to them. He was an UDFA but he was a very good football player.
Also, watch for the health of Fluker's knee. Everyone's talking him up but there's some smoke there.

ESPN is just trying to make everyone mad
I think its more of them trying to "make everyone happy". If you look hard enough or pay attention long enough you will hear exactly what you want to hear and vice versa.
The fact is... LSU will be two really good teams again this years, as they have been the past few years. To pick one or the other is a coin toss.

Tht's exactly what we want them to be saying. I hope they keep it up

So what? Was anyone on Alabama's second string as productive as Mingo? Anyone?
What are you trying to prove?
If you want to get into the bigger picture, I guess my overall point would be that it's not unreasonable to think that Bama could win the West this year. Just like it's not unreasonable to think that LSU could do the same.
(Though after last year I think it is slightly unreasonable to think anyone else can.)

You might want to watch the tape of the national championship game, bro. He's far from an average quarterback. And he'll probably be improved this year.
This!
Regardless, championships are won on the field and not a studio in Bristol, Connecticut.

Is anyone saying it's unreasonable for the returning NC and consensus top three team to win the west?
And they may have lost the same number, but making comparisons of the type of losses is disingenuous.

quote:I agree 100%. That's why I was responding to the poster trying to make the comparisons with my own comparisons showing that it doesn't really work. If I may bastardize Newton just a bit, for every rationalization, there is an equal and opposite rationalization.

Would be worthless no matter what they predict. Preseason predictions are silly.

So you think he's an average quarterback?

Ohnoz, someone doesn't think LSU will be better than the defending national champions who destroyed them in the BCS NC game.

At the end of College Football Live they predicted that Alabama will be better than LSU this year and will play for the national title. They said Alabama will be DOMINANT on offense this year. Last time I checked AJ Mcarron is still their quarterback and he is nothing more than and average QB. Sounds like disrespect to me. What do you guys think of this?
Right, AJ McCarron only led the conference in completion % and he played LSU twice. If he's an average QB, Mett is a garbage QB.
Our offense will be dominant, and as long as Mett is twice the QB you've had in years past, so will LSU, so quit whining and thinking Bama is gonna suck, they'll be equal to LSU until proven otherwise.

Vlachos always let opposing NTs/DTs get into the back field. Jones doesn't let that happen, and Cyrus may be a better LT than Jones was.

To a point maybe so, but your preseason ranking can make or break you at the end of the season. If your team is ranked.. Let's say 15th in preseason and gets beat the second game of the year by a pretty good team, then goes on to win the rest of their games which includes a few ranked teams.
At the end of the year there is one undefeated team who everyone knows will be in the NC game and two or three other l lose teams that is in the mix. Being ranked 15th preseason could possibly cost your team a chance to play in the NC. To some degree, perception plays a factor in the BCS rankings because of the voting/polls that are included.

Assuming Mett does not get hurt what kind of offense do you think LSU will have?
Bamma has a new oc and lost O lineman. We had no QB when we played them our o line will be even better! Is Lacey
Better then Richardson?

I really wouldn't be shocked if Bama won it all again next year. They definitely have the best coach in CFB and he recruits nothing but the top players in the nation. Hey guys, I graduated from LSU and I respect Miles, but I'm also old enough to realize the facts and the fact is that the past NC game was a glimpse at what Bama is as long as they keep their current coach and he continues to recruit. The rest of the SEC teams will always be playing catch up to Bama. Saban knows how to control the media and generate dollars. If I'm being stupid, then name just one team that placed third in their conference and were allowed to play in the NC game. Saban will be at Bama for another ten seasons, at least. He isn't going anywhere, he and his family are content living here.

They may be right. Game is a tossup.

LSU is consistently disrespected by the national media. We get our share of praise as well, but it's about time we except that we're never going to be the media darlings no matter how many good football teams we field. We do things differently as both a fanbase and football program, and we have fun doing it.

The biggest loss for Bama to me was Jim Mcelwain. I'm sorry, but that dude was a great OC for them. He was a perfect fit for what Saban wants out of his offenses. He took a lot of heat, and I think many Bama fans devalued his importance.
What was Bama's record with him as a OC? He always had a good gameplan, and he could develop average QBs. The man could have developed a kid like Jarett Lee to play in that offense.
And he had a great gameplan against LSU in the NC game.
