Do you ever stop whining about baseball being talked about on this board?

Kids that legitimately qualify. Few recruiting games. No hats on the table commits. No barbers. No Dodge dealerships being plundered. I imagine legitimate class attendance and performance. No noticeable sec officiating bias. No Bama bumps. Players that can string together words and sentence formation.

Giving private colleges an absurd scholarship advantage and cutting the legs out from under the state schools isn’t pure.

Maybe it is, but most people don't look at golf as a team sport.

People saying it's the bats....all teams are on an equal playing field with the bats. That doesn't hurt the sport. They have made adjustments to make it pretty great if you ask me.

People saying LSU is the team who gets the special treatment in baseball...there are a few years where LSU got screwed by the committee. So I don't think that's a valid argument.

People saying umps are calling with different strike zones... I'm not saying it's a perfect sport. Overall, I think umps do a pretty good job. That human error is just part of the game, and it's a part of any sport that has officials making calls.

To people saying the scholarship is an issue....I agree, it is stupid for college baseball, but it is what it is. LSU has a slight edge because of tops, with in state kids. It's far from perfect, but it is still pretty much equal across the board (with the exception of private schools, but how many actually really use that to their advantage for baseball not named Vandy).

Or, no one gives enough of a shite to care if they cheat.

If “cheating” did happen most would only find out about it if they read the Starkville Daily News, the Advocate, or Dandy Don’s blog.

There could be rampant horrible umpiring in college baseball. No one knows

The NCAA killed college baseball with the bats

wrong. they have now re-engineered the ball and, while gorilla ball is done, regular baseball is alive and well. i'm with the OP and am so glad I can now stream just about all of LSU's games.

college baseball is indeed the "purist" college team sport (of the big three) and I love it

Wait till the first bad call on the field or called third strike.

Agree with OP.

Anyone can get up there to win it all. Chanticleers...Stony Brooke with a shot. Dare I say even ULL. You maintain power houses with the true underdogs taking shots every year. It’s truly fun and mysterious every year.

As for the bat situation...the new ball has leveled it out and I’m happy with what I saw at the plate last year. College baseball still has school pride and excitment without too much money involved to have fat cats influence it. Nice post OP.

You must’ve missed the LSU-Cal-Irvine game 1 super regional in 2008

Now to college baseball

There's not enough money involved with college baseball for those powers that be to influence the outcome of games. How much money do you think was made by certain individuals after the Saints game. How much more money does the NFL look to make having the scams, err, rams in the SB versus the Saints? L.A. is a major media market area and has millions more fans supporting that team than the Saints do. The NFL didn't want the Saints in the SB, they wanted the rams. And that's what they got. There is no integrity in sports officiating or governing officials any longer. It's not about who the best is, it's who can bring in the most money.

Although the “prove me wrong” schtick is old, you make some good points. The only issue with baseball is how they play way too many fricking games.

The one sport where LSU would benefit from some kind of “whatever you wanna call it” and of course it doesn’t exist. Usually the blue bloods and money schools/teams in each sport get the favorable calls. With our history of dominance in the 90s you’d think we’d get the calls. Surely didn’t get it in the UC Irvine super regional.
