He openly says he doesn’t really follow college football that closely outside the games. He believes the sport is too regional for the most part. He focuses on what the big cities want and they lean more pro sports. If you listen to him with that in mind you understand where his opinions come from.

With that said, if you are going to ask Urban about Joe knowing he is from Ohio you should probably know that detail.

and with that in mind it begs a HUGE question: why in the world would anyone ever listen to him? How dull and ignorant! I would like to listen to someone who has a 'take' an inside view to provide interesting insight. How in the world can he do that? wow.

Does he not know that Burrow transferred frm Ohio State after the 2017 season? I don't follow recent developments in quantum physics too closely but I know how to put two and two together.

It doesn't matter how good the research packet he's given is if he doesn't look at it.

Joe is in the Heisman race as QB of a top5 team, not to mention the transfer portal has been a huge talking point in sports radio the last year or so. He doesn’t need to know Joe’s life story, but if you’re going to have Urban on and ask about JB, it’s plain ignorant to not know where Joe’s been the last 4 years.

Those guys aren't sports fans. They have a talent in reading a teleprompter and presenting the information to the public.
They do their job, go home, and don't turn on the TV all weekend, in many cases.

That’s why you should never put any stock in what guys like him, Stephen A, Skip bayless, etc have to say about college sports. They’re ignorant on the subject.

Which is why Clay Travis is eventually going to be bigger than him. Cowherd's show gets overly boring at times because it feels like he only talks about NFL story of the day and Lebron.

I think everyone is overreacting to this. He said that as a lead in question. That was planned before the show. The hosts asks a question he already knows, but he asks the question for the viewer. This is how show business works, people.

ETA: There's two ways reporters do this

1. Ask a question, framed in a way to give the viewer context (as Cowherd did here) - "Do you have any connections with Joe Burrow?" - notice he said "Tell me about Joe Burrow" before he asked the question...

2. State the context and then ask the guest to comment - "Joe Burrow transferred from OSU to LSU while you were coach, can you give us some insight on that"

Either way, it's the same fricking thing. Y'all hear and see these two methods every day, you just choose to shite on Cowherd because you don't like him. I don't like him either but I'm not dishonest.

They probably assume (and it would have been a safe assumption) that he already knew this

It shows he lacks professionalism for not researching his own questions or guests.

He may have been sarcastic and coy...

1) Herman found and convinced Urbie to give Burrow a scholly. Urban did not want
2) Urban let Burrow outplay others spring, only to sit him behind others.

I think Coward was playing dumb to make Urban look like a fool.

I don't like either of them, but Urbie's the bigger dick, so I like it

They’re really not competing for the same demographics.

Cowherd is all about getting his numbers up in the big markets. All he talks about is big markets and how he wants the teams in those markets to do well and doesn’t care about the others.

Clay Travis leans towards middle America and having a presence in as many markets as possible. That’s why he goes hard on the SJW stuff and talks way more colleges sports.

Both work as they are extremely popular in the areas they are focusing on. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean that there aren’t a lot of people that do.
