Just out of curiosity, what's the numbers on ULL's ace? Do they have power with those bats? I'm expecting LSU to drive some HRs this weekend considering how hard some balls were hit in a massive park last week.

We've got to beat ULL twice(or SHSU). The opponent doesn't matter. I want our best pitchers pitching Sat and Sun.
YOU DON'T GET IT!
win the first 2 games and you will have that because the team we will play in the title game will have played 3 games, while LSU would only have played 2. The staff will be depleted.

In no other game in this regional will LSU have more of an advantage than we have against Jackson St. tomorrow...even if we don't throw Eades.
Regardless of what that advantage is, your chances significantly decline of winning the regional after you lose game 1. That decline is less desirable than if you pitch Eades in game 1 and use your bullpen for the remainder.

I certainly get it. LSU's chances would be very good in that spot. But, our chances would be even better with Eades still available, and I see close to no risk against Jackson St.
Do you realize that Jackson St. is seriously going to be one of the worst 3-4 teams we've played this year?

But, the risk is minuscule...well below the chances of us losing two in a row.
There will be #1 seeds that choose to pitch their 4th starter in this tournament...even though your statement above would still be true. LSU has additional incentive to do it with a starter out...and a truly weak #4.

I actually do see your side to it, and you are probably right.
But I also think you're "stressin" too much about it...,were gonna be fine either way. Like I said earlier, there is no right or wrong answer, especially considering the most likely outcome is that the results are going to be identical however we choose to proceed.
I do think you seem to have more confidence in eades (or maybe less confidence in everyone else) than me...or some combination of both.

To put things in perspective, the run line for the game is LSU -8.5

If this were a football player suspended for 'violation of team rules', most of the posters on these 23 pages would be calling Glenn a 'thug' and declare the cause to be the many failed drug tests. Oh, yeah, there doesn't appear to be any 'thug' material on this team.

But you run the risk of using a good bit of the bullpen on Friday if you don't start Eades.
If we are 2-0, I prefer to have our #4 against their #4 and a fairly rested pen, rather than Eades, and a depleted pen.

Who has ULL been hot offensively against? Just because your hot in a minor conference doesnt mean youll be hot against one of the top teams in the country. You cant compare ULL's offense with LSU's. There is no common ground to compare them on.
Go ahead, educate yourself... Conference RPI

Not trying to be a smart arse, just answering your question. Yes, we do have legitimate power. Cajuns lead the nation in HR's with 72 bombs.
**que the "who was their competition" remarks.**
EDIT: I'm sure LSU will drive their fair share of HRs this weekend as well... I just think some of you guys are in for a rude awakening concerning ULL's offense. Maybe you won't see it against Nola because he's so dominant... but throughout the regional we should be putting some runs up on the board. Hopefully for us they come at the right times.

Yes, the Sun Belt is and always will be a "minor conference," despite an up year featuring a very solid South Alabama team and decent ULL and Troy teams, and a below average FAU team on a streak.
You really can't compare stats from two different conferences, though. Call us when you've faced teams like Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State, and more than our pitcher who's currently off the team.

Look, I like ULL and root for them all the time, but if you are trying to say you can compete with LSU athletics week in and week out you are being absurd. Now, if you are tring to say you could pull an upset, sure anything is possible. The bad news is you have to beat us twice and that isn't going to happen. I have seen both teams play in person and can tell you that ULL can hit the ball, but they don't face the quality pitching LSU has. Hell, we have midweek guys that throw low to mid 90's.
