Sophomore slumps are real, Broski... Not all of us can be Andrew Stevenson

Yes

There are intangibles involved in being a leader. It is not just working hard. Coach set him up to fail IMO.
If Bregman isn't a leader, that's a knock on Bregman. I don't see how you can blame that one on Mainieri.
Also, I'm struggling to think of another position player that could have possibly fit the mold. Ibarra maybe? Definitely not Moore. Who else could it have been?

I refuse to believe in that bullshite just because it leads to a clever alliteration. I also don't believe Mainieri forced leadership on Bregman. He practically begged Katz for the #8 jersey and talked a big game in the wake of the CWS elimination last season. Bregman assumed leadership, it wasn't handed to him by Mainieri.
It just so happens, that he has failed miserably this season and the rest of the team is simply playing follow the leader.

Go on then....
He has elite bat speed and plenty of skins on the wall.

Why couldn't someone just emerge on his own?

Bregman tried to emerge on his own.

Who mentioned sophomore slumps?
Did you see all of the Virginia players I pointed out the other day who are about to be drafted even though they have underperformed this season?
What has happened to Bregman on the field this year is not unique to him or to LSU. However, I'll freely admit that I neither know nor talk to any players so I can't speak to any of the other stuff mentioned.

Last week Kyle Peterson said if you're tightly wound it doesn't work after a while. Bregman's definitely been too tightly wound ever since the regional last season.

I am ready to flush this abortion of the season. I have no confidence in this team whatsoever. We'll probably win our regional simply because we have the best pitcher in collegiate baseball. But I just don't give us much shot in the supers. Poche on the road is only decent, and "only decent" is not enough to overcome our shitty bats.
I'll watch every game, but I have absolutely no expectations for this team at this point.
frick it, bring on the World Cup.

No, no. Just because the team does not see him as a leader, that is not a knock on him. Some players are leaders and some are not. It does not have anything to do with their ability, desire, competitiveness, etc.

I don't have any inside scoop either, so my thoughts were just questions I threw out for discussion. At least we tried some new theories. On the MSB, they'd just say that Bregman slept with Foster's mom and it caused a rift amongst the team.

So we have exactly what it looks like : a dysfunctional dugout with a finger pointing coach which leads to more anger and finger pointing. Now we have comments out of frustration by coach about player that sound terrible. This is why the team looks to be defying even the worst of odds with regards to just about every aspect of this season. Everything that could go wrong has- we will see what goes on this next week and it starts tomorrow night and auburn. If we have mailed it In it will be apparent.

I see nothing that indicates this team has mailed anything in.

I don't think they have mailed it in, but I agree that this team has not caught many breaks. We had a good matchup for Sunday and the weather gods struck us down.
