They will have official documentation of playing for LSU if they never hit the court as walk on's.

It is a big deal

All of those players have played in multiple games, so last night didn't matter.

It was a gesture by the coach to let the fans recognize the starters and it allowed the bench players to get on the court in a national TV game. Very simple.

Is that supposed to make them feel good?
no

Congrats to the LSU team
Which is why they subbed with 2 seconds.

It is to allow the starters to get plaudits fjor there efforts as they leave the court. It has nothing to do with the reserves. It is a pretty common things.

Hell when I was a back up I was happy just to get my hands on the ball if even for 2 seconds

So it’s about getting recognition to the starters with an ovation, not doing it for the backups.
Come on now have you never watched a sporting event where the coach pulls the starters in a big game they are going to win with time left in the game so the crowd can give them an ovation?

Kirby Smart did it with players in the championship game.

This board has gone insane. It’s fricking women’s basketball. There are usually two good teams a year, maybe four. Who gives a frick? It’s good for the university in general but the picking apart and obsession is so strange.

Watching Kim I’m convinced she was gonna run out the clock with the ones on the floor.

But then they fouled again very late and if I remember right some our players ended up in the floor.

And Kim was visibly annoyed. She kinda quickly and abruptly then signaled all the backups in.

It felt like she did it for more than just the ovation.

This is exactly how I took it as well. It was more in response to what Tenn was doing by dragging out the game needlessly.

Was going to say I'm pretty sure Mulkey only did that because Tennessee fouled with 3.5 seconds to go down 6. The game was over and they fouled anyways. So might as well rub things in.

This. Everybody ragging the OP but lets not act like KM called a time out to do this.

Walk-ons are just happy to see their names appear in the official box score or participation report. In basketball they’re usually glorified student managers.

It served 3 purposes. First, it gave the starters a chance to get cheered by the crowd. Second, it gave the backups a little "atta girl" for their hard work. And third, it flashed the figurative finger at the Tennessee coach who was still having her players foul with 6 seconds left and an 8 point deficit.

It was actually 3 seconds but I have no problem with that

Did you not notice the excitement of the players coming on the court?
4 of them hadn’t played and they all had huge smiles on their face while
greeting their teammates coming out of the game to a huge ovation
