He seems to be highly regarded around the coaching ranks. Not sure what the hell you're talking about.

Then make sure your guy is prepared for the interview. But from Dan's perspective if you are the pro who's job it is to conduct interviews, how can you bash someone because of your epic fail? He didn't try to conduct a professional interview and then made it the fault of coach o and coaches in general.

They do this with literally every guest. They never ask sports related questions. Sometimes it develops into a hilarious story and sometimes it's a train wreck. They don't pretend to be sports journalists and Dan says so every time someone complains. Dan will even interrupt claiming the show is getting too close to "serious sports talk" and just ask something dumb to get "back on track".
I get someone unfamiliar with the show being frustrated by the lack of serious lsu football talk. But this show has been around for years. If they didn't know what they were getting into, that is 100% on lsu and the people in charge of PR in the athletic dept.

Right. I figured it it were our people reaching out than they would have known what they were getting into....but apparently not. If they wanted to talk about and promote the program they should have gone with Russillo.

it is not fair to the press (as a rule, LeBatard may be an exception) if our head coach comes off as uneducated, inarticulate, coarse or something of a bumpkin.
Frankly, its difficult to fairly blame the head coach himself, although I believe he should make some efforts to polish his communications skills.
The person/ people who choose the head football coach, knowing he will likely be the most conspicuous media representative of the entire university, are to blame. This is an important part of the job.
And, YES, it is embarrassing.
