Well, why wasn't he fired after this past season if all that matters is a successful passing game?

Disclaimer for Peej: I'm in no way saying I think he should have been fired. I'm strictly asking because of the previous posts that the boosters wanted a better passing game.
It was Miles failure to keep his promise to the Power Brokers that got him fired. Not ONLY the passing game.

And neither Miles NOR Orgeron could install a passing game if their life depended on it.

If the coach E and Joe Brady thing doesn't pan out, Coach O won't last long either. I think O will delegate to Brady and E. Not cause he wants to - but, because he has no choice.

I think yhe passing game will take a huge leap forward in '19 - but time will tell.

But Orgeron now knows it is do-or-die.

He now knows it? So he did not take the job knowing that LSU boosters were demanding a leading edge offense...even though Miles had been fired by the boosters for precisely that?

Interesting.

So...when he handpicked Matt Canada, was that his attempt to meet those demands? Or are we still suggesting that Orgeron was not the one who hired him and Canada was foisted on him...?

Was he still not aware of this need for a leading edge offense when after firing Canada he hired our very own TE's coach who had not been a full time OC since Bill Clinton was the US President...and even then, not a great one?

But...he knows it now! Well, that's awesome news!

"Now" As in after Miles got fired. In other words, if they'll fire Miles, they'll fire ANYBODY.

He signed etling yet started Harris.

You are aware that Etling had to sit out the 2015 season, right?

Were you aware that Etling had some kind of back issue going into the 2016 Wisconsin game?

Were you aware that even though Miles started Harris for the Wisconsin and Jacksonville State games, Harris was pulled from the game, by Miles, at the start of the second quarter of the second game of the season?

And as far as Miles starting Harris over Ethling, I'd bet a dollar to a donut, if Miles had started Ethling over Harris for the Wisconsin game, and LSU still lost that game, posters like you would have pitched a fricking hissy fit and screamed for Miles head for starting a QB who hadn't played in an actual game for damn near 2 full seasons and also "couldn't make it" at Purdue, over a QB that was starting his third year in the program and had been the starter the entire 2015 season.

He was fired because he stopped winning 11,12,and 13 games a year.
Only an idiot would think head coaches get fired for anything else on the field.

The same offense threw for 3000+ yards in 2013, and we were returning almost everyone

Shouldn’t Experience have been enough to make us a much better passing team in 2016?

Well, people would probably still be bitching about the inept passing game which severely limited LSU's ability to win.

It always bothered me that people acted like missing 3 fgs that even nfl kickers have a problem making was chalked up to leaving points on the field.

You can line up 70 yard fgs and act like you beat yourself by leaving points on the field.

That people would be me.....he only had to make one of those three missed FGs and it could have been a different game.
Stop acting like we skull drug them in that game and clearly deserved to win. Could have gone either way.

I was just going to let him go on thinking that Etling sat behind Harris for 2+ years. It was more fun that way.

It says the asked him to make significant changes in the offense..

It's likely Miles inability to make significant changes cost him his job.

Why?

Entertainment, or to hopefully gain more wins?

Why?

Maybe you should direct this at the people who fired him for failing to make significant changes and win.
