Orgeron says the defense is shifting to a 4-3 "attack style defense" under Bo Pelini. "He's going to put them in the best position to attack. I expect us to get more sacks and more tackles for loss because of his defense."

This is my preference. Aranda is a GREAT DC and a brilliant mind but I can't say I am as much a fan of his schemes.

Guess we will see. I’ve personally liked the 3-4.

Coverage scheme wise aranda is the best..never really seen alot of blown assignments or guys out of place in his defense...blitz wise aranda was so so..he could have if he wanted to but aranda likes to play numbers against yards

I like the attacking style defense

I like 3-4 too. Better against the spread

I think we see a more 4-2-5 base look than traditional 4-3, which should be fine against the spread.

Can’t wait very excited about this.

This is the same statement that Every DC hire ever has had

We thin at LB for 2020...moving to a 43 should help

One slightly down year and people act like Aranda wasn't the fricking truth.... YOU WANNA KNOW WHO ALSO RUNS A 4-3.... God Damn Kevin Steele. Do we have that short of a memory? We were horrible under him in the 4-3.... and you have to love recruiting and building kids for one scheme.. just to change it now. Say goodbye to players like Marcel Brooks and Divinity rushing the passer. They are far too small to rush the passer in a 4-3.
Steele's 4-3 has only been good because he had the best D line in the nation. we don't have Brown and Davidson.. and we definitely don't have the talent on D line we had back in the mid 2000s. we are about to lose A TON of athleticism at edge. you guys wonder why we have been so great at stopping running QBs the past few years...

Yea in base but how much do we run base.
For the last 4 games Chaisson was on the line a lot and we pretty much have 2 hybrid players in Brooks and Stevens that give a lot of versatility
Ohio St and Clemson run a 4-3 with lighter DEs than what old school 4-3s used

You are trying to pigeon hole scheme way too much
Clemson's base is a 4-3 and Isiah Simmons (who is very similar to Brooks and Stevens) and that white LB were rushing the passer the whole NC game
Auburn had big cat bryant who is essentially the same player as Chaisson at DE

Well definitely be in more 4-2-5 than base 4-3 but I am interested in seeing what we do DL wise. We could easily run a 4-3
I don’t remember much about the pure Xs and Os of pelini’s 4-3.

Under Aranda not much
But if they are talking about being able to attack more cause of 4 DL, you’d have to think that’s the plan. It won’t so much be a base defense but I’d guess 4 DL most of the time with back end variables
I’m sure it will be fine. Just prefer 3-4

With the debate and disagreement between 3-4 and 4-3, why not split the difference and run a 3.5 - 3.5?

Yea, that’s just false
Brooks especially, was basically a blitzer they put up near the line. That fits in any scheme. It’s not like he put his hand in the dirt

Bro WHAT... Isaiah Simmons is 6'4 23.... Marcel Brooks is 6'2 194... you CANNOT play 4-3 end at that size. people would run the ball right down our throats... He is able to rush the passer in a 3-4 because you have 3 big guys eating blocks and stuffing the run. this isn't incredibly difficult stuff to understand...
Most 3-4 outside rushers ONLY rush the passer. will sometimes make a play on the ball carrier. but that's not what there are there for. Von Miller is there to attack the QB.. not tackle ball carriers for a 3 yard gain. some of you need to google 4-3 and 3-4 defenses before we start talking about them seriously.

Relax funny man I’m sure O knows just a tad bit more about what defense to run than you do. Call me crazy but I really believe that.
