We were 3 offensive penalties and 2 broken defensive plays away from throttling those guys.

And we were a first half defensive TD away from them beating us by multiple scores and winning going away. Bama was a hurt QB away from leaving nothing but a hole and nuclear fallout in Fayetteville yesterday. That’s just football.

He doesn’t want to kill Daniels confidence which to be honest he doesn’t seem to have anyway.

Yeah, but at the same time his wr core has no confidence of ever getting the ball. These guys come to LSU because of the success of the previous receivers making it to NFL.

This is coach speak from BK protecting his QB.

The hesitancy we saw from Daniels last night was no different than what we've seen all year, if not a little worse.

This is who he is and the likelihood of it changing after 40+ starts is extremely low, which is insanely frustrating given the level of talent at WR.

I saw the exchange , but don’t you think some of that is from lack of reps with the #1s ? I don’t think you can exactly blame the kid for that .

But if it's just one, give me the win any day. Give me 80 yds passing and a WIN at Auburn, instead of 400 yds and a loss at Missouri.

You keep saying this same bullshite all over the board, but don’t seem to understand what many of the rest of us do- this WILL NOT WORK against the rest of our SEC schedule. Maybe 8&4 if they play like absolute shite, but any other team left will wear out our defense that is already down 2 starters and at least one rotation CB and eventually beat us multiple scores.

frick looking good. I just want to see improvement. This was a win, but there was no improvement. The defense made plays and ultimately won the game, but gave up way too many passing yards to a marginal SEC QB. I do give them credit for not giving up any points in the 2nd half, though. They did get better as the game went on.

The offense regressed terribly after a good half vs State and a good full-game performance vs NM. We turned the ball over. We had a way too many penalties. I’m glad we won, but do you really think this performance will keep us within 2 scores of any other SEC opponent on our schedule?

I didn't see Auburn run anything exotic last night.

They were rushing 4 with a spy. How exotic could it be?
I wasn't specifically watching for this all game so it may be luck of the draw I saw this as much as I did...

They were doing to things that were "bothering" him:

1. Press man against Nabers (which sometimes was actually zone) while keeping S cheated to that side within range to pick it up if Nabers got a step off LoS... it caused him pre-snap to almost ignore him instead of "checking it" post-snap. Probably one of the reasons we sucked so bad on 3rd downs AND Taylor got so many targets.

2. Every other WR they showed zone, but would not show leverage. They hovered over the helmet. Now, immediately post-snap they went into a leveraged position, usually to the inside challenging the WRs to go out, force JD to also recognize it (slowing everything down), and also adding run support to the inside. Hence JDs best run were stretch or flanking.

Absolutely . This is the frickin’ SEC . Maybe
CBK underestimated the level of competition just a wee bit ? You can’t go 3 and out for an entire quarter against good SEC teams and expect to win consistently . A QB rotation may build a fire under JD’s butt and get him to listen to CBK . Before the half CBK wanted
him to throw long into the endzone . He didn’t do it . Even if picked , like a punt . A little competition would be good .

Parts of our fanbase have like Stockholm syndrome when it comes to bad offense. Like good offense is this mythical thing that is unreasonable to ask for.

“We’re rebuilding.” The o line has been playing great, we have five stars all over the place at receiver, and a handpicked transfer qb by the staff. What exactly is going to be so much better personnel wise? QB? Then play a fricking different QB.

Offensive scheme isn’t something it takes years to build. Kiffin, Riley, Sarkisian, Briles, Joe Brady, Heupel, everywhere those guys go, no matter who their talent is, the offense is always good or at least punches above its weight their first year.

Sugarcoat it how you want, it is concerning that this is the marriage of offensive scheme, quarterback, and staff that Kelly chose. And an eked out win with four huge defensive turnovers against a shite auburn team doesn’t change that fact.

Auburn did what Aranda did to mobile QBs. Contained with a controlled rush and ran zone w eyes on him. We had to know it was coming.

Will Anderson may have 5 sacks

Do you argue a case as you do on this board? Your statement is contradicted by the facts, counselor, but I digress...

Maybe you can explain to us all why you think JD5 will suddenly begin to play well enough to be an average passer. We look forward to your argument.

Bingeaux!
Presently the D knows exactly where JD will set up unless he is forced out, and his 'go to'escape is rarely on the outside but up the middle, and that is when he gets sacked as the middle collapses. He has to move both left and right on the snap with appropriate blocking schemes based on where he sees the rush coming from. I rarely see him identifying rushers for the backs to block. The pocket must move to give him more time and receivers have to scramble out of their pre snap routes and get open.

Stop with this fricking shite. Did you not learn from Les and early era O? You can’t win like this consistently in the SEC.

Orgeron was 10-4 in conference play before Burrow got here. He was 15-7* (should have been 16-6) before 2019. Is that not “winning consistently in the SEC”?

To be clear I’m not an Orgeron fan. But I don’t really know what your point is. That we need the best college football team in history (2019) to win consistently in the SEC? The fact is that winning in the SEC is fricking hard. It’s really hard when the last coach left you with a decimated roster and a dogshit culture.

People act like they would rather see a “pretty” loss than an “ugly” win. But here’s the thing - there’s no such thing as a pretty loss. If the offense and defense are both humming along, you usually have a pretty damned good team and you win a lot of games. We lost 7 games last year. It’s going to take time to get back to that standard.

So to this point:
quote:

We all like winning games, but you can enjoy the win and still comment on glaring structural flaws.

I look at it a little differently. We all understand that there are flaws, but you can acknowledge those flaws without freaking the frick out, as many of our fans seem to be doing, halfway into the first year of a rebuild when the team is 4-1.

Let’s not forget they drop plenty of passes.

We keep crying for these guys but they aren’t doing anything spectacular when given the chance.

Daniels hits Nabor in the shoulder and that’s considered the worst pass ever.

It’s not a crazy catch. It doesn’t make the highlight real.

It’s not a perfect pass but we don’t even make half our difficult catches
