He shot 52% from the field although he didn't shoot a lot. He's another big body that we need and there aren't a lot of centers out there right now. Yes MM needs to hit some big time recruits but he still needs players to come off the bench and give good minutes. At least they won't be throwing him around like they did Collins and Chest.

He’s 6-10, 245, you’re acting like he’s 7-1, 270. He’ll probably backup Reed and play 10-12 minutes per game at most.

If CMM wants to keep his job he has to do better than this garbage. This doesn’t turn the needle at all. LSU will be the same next year if he doesn’t recruit better.

At a normal program he’d be a lame duck. It doesn’t appear like he’s going to get any program changing type players and we know he can’t out coach anyone so we’ll probably have another bad season but who knows, if he goes 6-12 in the SEC Woody might call that an improvement and keep him. Thats how far we’ve fallen.

Mike Nwoko played 34 games, starting 32, for Mississippi State this season. Nwoko averaged 6.1 points and 4.6 rebounds for the MSU. The 6-foot-10 sophomore is originally from Canada.
He started his college career at Miami. 2 years at 2 schools and we’ll be the third.
#351 player in the transfer portal and #36 center

Not impressed. I haven’t seen anything from CMM that says he can identify and develop talent - and this one seems to need some development.
McMahon needs players who are already polished

The 351st ranked player as a Junior who needs development. We dont seem to be in any hurry to turn this thing around.

Defensively I would agree. Imo Chest can offer a bit more on the offensive side with his face up game

I'd rather chest.

He's bigger than Chest so maybe he adds a bit more defensively but a minimal addition that doesn't move us forward.

Average? That might be a little generous. I would say “underwhelming.”

Yes, I know. I was responding to someone saying this guy brings more to the table than chest.

They haven't assigned a transfer ranking to him yet jackass. Everyone without one is slotted after everyone who got one based on hs rankings.

He’s the #36 center in the portal. There are at least 35 more

That should tell you enough about his ranking.

Also guys named James Evans Jr(aka JJ) and George Washington III are ranked 192 and 194 on 247. Since we're just dicking around next year let's get them for fun.

Notice the complete 180 taking place exactly as predicted. Every player we sign will be overhyped by the mcmen then when the season starts they’ll do another 180 and claim we have no talent. This has gone on the entire time he’s been here with mcmen saying one thing then saying the complete opposite only depending on how it helps their narrative.

Don’t kid yourself, the “increased NIL” story was always BS, just consider the source.

I'm not so sure about that

Per 40 minutes Chest had more rebounds, blocks, and a higher FG%. Nwoko had more PPG, but he also attempted to 4 more FGs per game than Chest. Chest is the more explosive athlete. The one thing place you can give the edge to Nwoko is height at 6'10

I would stand by he's a slight upgrade. You can look at a lot of numbers, but they're truthfully pretty close in everything.

-Nwoko was in the 92nd percentile in offensive rebounds, Chest was in the 95th percentile.
-Nwoko was in the 79th percentile in defensive rebounds, Chest was in the 87th percentile.
-Nwoko was in the 88th percentile in blocks+stls, Chest 85th percentile.

Offensively, I see an advantage for Nwoko in two areas. Nwoko was in the 57th percentile in assist percentage, Chest was 42nd percentile. Nwoko was in the 83rd percentile in turnovers, Chest was 25th percentile (this is a huge difference). I'm not saying Nwoko coming in is going to make this the best offense in college basketball next season, but between the increased passing, and the decreased turnovers, it will help. Another thing Nwoko does, the Chest doesn't, and it's why you see that FG% difference, he (sorta) scores outside of the paint as well. 85% of Chest's points came in the paint last season. 73% of Nwoko's points came in the paint. Hes going to offer you more variety and versatility as well, which will allow you to do more.

and then there’s some non stat type stuff. I think he’s a better post defender for example.
