The player that worries me is Etienne catching passes.
Of course, the LSU D has practiced against CEH catching passes ever since spring ball.

Good read, but in CFBs biggest game of the year, and one of the best defensive minds in college football will rush three most of the time? I disagree, no way Venables will come out with a "please don't score on me defense". He will use exotic blitzes like he has all year to try to confuse Joe. Then again, I don't think it matters what they throw at us we can beat them in so many ways offensively. I just cant see Venables on his 7th RedBull come kickoff play so conservatively and watch the Heisman trophy winner pick his 3 man rush apart.

he will zone blitz us a shite ton.
joe will hit hot routes and hopefully some screens.
he is great at hitting the vacated spots the blitz came from. receivers have to get in holes in zone and let joe hit them.
if he man blitzes we can get some real big plays especially with YAC.
if all venables plays is drop 8 this is over already before it starts. we will run and RPO them to death if he tries that.

Auburn was the only defense that could get away with that. Others have tried to copy it and failed. Clem could have done that last year but not this one.
It will take some next level coaching and god like play from Trevor to beat LSU this year but it is doable.

I think Venables gets more exotic on the back end vs the front end. Man that looks like zone, zone that looks like man. It’s how we picked Tua both times last year. BV is great at exploiting tendencies. We’re going to run blitz bc that’s what he does. But obvious passing downs I don’t think he will as much. But obviously who knows. I’m not the one getting paid millions to coach football. To me it’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation, and personally I feel better with our guys not in man to man with no help over the top situations.

yeah if he does that which is great for stopping runs, we will be forced to run more RPO's. that way it gives us a chance to make the read and pull it out and throw either vertical or horizontal based on what joe sees. run blitzes are great for stopping straight up runs with no options off of it.

Plss three man rush us. We have a guy called CEH that is going to eat you alive.

This one is interesting because LSU has not done anything fancy all year. It has been routinely the same plays, just executed to perfection. I think Brady/Ensminger have a few plays they have saved all year for this one. Not fancy trick plays, but perhaps a different route tree out of a normal formation.
I think back to the 68 Oj Howard TD.

I believe we do as well. We’ve essentially had no receiving threat from a TE all year as our best receiving TE was suspended for the Osterine stuff.
His 365 day suspension is over and I’m thinking we have a package or two we’ve been working on all year. Galloway might have a major impact

LSU is #1 in red zone offense and has played three teams ranked better than Clemson in red zone defense including Florida who is #1 in that category.
I actually think OSU was #1 before last night. Do not be surprised if the first half does not go the same for LSU with lots of yards between the 20s and field goals rather than TDs.
Yes, Burrow is great, and yes your WRs are great. But we have seen this script twice now with Venables as DC. Last years UA team was the greatest ever, but did squat after halftime. This years OSU team lead the country in scoring but got outscored 29-7.
Good luck, but I think everyone on this board is going to be shocked when LSU does not score at will.

Well Clemson has a chance but will have to play mistake free and not just as far as turnovers. I don’t see stoping LSU offense but maybe slow them down, limit big plays and try to force FG’s. Might need to steal a possession with a fake punt or go for it on forth and short. Going to have to run the ball well and control the clock. Mix up coverages. Maybe move Simmons around some. All of that is a lot easier said that done. It’s a tough assignment. Going to need some breaks early.
But I’ll be fishing in Venice this spring win or lose. Might bump into some of you

OSU's conversion rate was 7%-8% lower than ours.
Ranked them in the low 20's nationally. LSU is #1 @ 97%.
Clemson lags LSU by ~10%, fwiw.

We have a 78% TD conversion rate in the red zone this year.

Well at the very least you have to press the slot receiver. Take a look at top billin's analysis of the OU game.
