Really like the hire, and believe it will be a great addition.

Sounds like a great guy and somebody that can make LSU broadcasting more appealing to all, not that JH was not, because we all love him and his historic calls. But I know from from friends of other schools that it was a unique voice that can be considered more of an acquired taste. Still love Mr. Hawthorne and what he has done for the school, no matter what you think of the man and his abilities (They are great IMO), to spend/give more than 30 years of your life and time to any one singular job/profession is truly remarkable in this day and age.

You cannot question his love for LSU and you cannot question his commitment to all things LSU sports.

LSU athletics took a turn for the better when we stopped hiring good ole boys and started hiring the best person we could find. Saban, Manieri, Miles were all good examples of this. It's good to see that even for the voice of the Tigers they looked outside the family.

Hannagriff was the only local BR guy I can even stand, but let's be honest - he does not have the voice to be a play by play guy at this level. He's smart and is a great color guy/aftershow host though.
I'd like to see him take over Pre-game, Half-Time and Post-Game LSU Network duties from the absolute "Worst of the Worst" sports radio voice I've ever heard at any level. (Kevin Ford) Ford needs to completely removed from all LSU sports broadcasts.

Hannagriff would be perfect for that gig and a big upgrade from high school boy.........

Hopefully he'll find a new line for our Tigers. Definitely don't want to hear, "Put a Tiger six on it."
Maybe once or twice a season after a really big TD against an SEC Big Boy. No more than that. It would get old really fast and if he plans on doing it, he'll get called out real fast by LSU fans. Don't think he will though ..........

Kevin Ford's show immediately following the football games sure have a way to make a loss ten times worse. And the worst part about it is that you're stuck in traffic trying to get out with nothing else to do but listen to that little fairy.

Hanagriff said Friday is he didn't get the job he was still incredibly excited to be doing his post game show and other radio shows, along with baseball.

Put a Tigers 6 on it. Has a nice ring to it. I like this guy. Will be a good voice of the Tigers. Just hope he has the love for LSU that Jim does.

Damn, this guy is good. I say let him take over.

Gosh, you have to be a unique talent to do this.

I like the fact that he is a Southerner, but at least Hawthorne had Louisiana ties and local sports experience (Centenary). I kind of view this guy as an "outsider" in some respects.

Does anyone else feel that way?

I agree. This isn't just a job, and you lose a lot of the guy isn't already an LSU fan IMO.

Where does this bizarre sentiment come from? Do you really think that the guy who will be paid to call play-by-play for the big three sports isn't capable of being as big a fan as you because he wasn't born into it? Do you think that kids who come to LSU from other states to go to college are lesser fans of their team just because their grandad isn't from Baton Rouge?

Being a play-by-play guy is about talent. And Blair has that. It isn't like he's gonna take the gig, move down here, study the lineups, interview the coaches, work in the building AND be wildly indifferent to LSU.

Blair is a great hire.
