Dude has the greatest job on Earth and he's owning it. I admit I'm a little biased because I do this for a living...I owe that to Jim Hawthorne...but CB definitely beat me out for the job for a reason. Ain't nothin wrong with a call like this.

He’s good but I’m still a Hawthorne fan.....
Too bad we lost Friday night

People don’t realize how hard this job actually is sometimes. Turn on the Stanley cup playoffs and actively listen to those announcers give detailed descriptions of that action.
Blair gets knocked for not being a through and through LSU guy and providing less of a homer perspective sometimes, but that sound clip brings a lot of emotion and excitement that proves he’s invested in the game. Provides a vivid image for those not able to physically see the action and also transfers the thrill and intensity of the moment to the listeners.
Hawthorne’s voice was unique and will never be replicated. Brings a lot of nostalgia to so many that it’s hard to get used to someone different. But Blair does a great job, and I hope he stays for a long time to make a large number of legendary calls for the tigers.

Jim’s last five years was torture he was the man in his day along with John Furgurson back in the day. Blair is awesome a ray of sunshine.

It’s extremely hard when your sidekick sucks, and there is no chemistry. He might as well have a drawing each night for a fan to do the color commentary for him

The classic is the last out....."Cinco de Mayo, as Kjerstad strikes out for the fifth time and the Tigers win the game"!

Hockey has to be the most difficult sport to call with the continual line substitutions while play is ongoing. The guys who call those games are amazing.
Chris Blair has developed into exactly what LSU wanted when he was hired. He's doing an excellent job all around. It would be nice if they had someone in the booth next to him contributing more than what we have now. The interaction between the guys in the booth is an important aspect of the listening experience.
I liked Jim Hawthorne a lot but always considered baseball to be his weakest call.

Nothing more depressing than listening to Hawthorne’s voice when LSU was losing.
John Ferguson is a legend. Drove me crazy, but a legend.
Chris Blair is very good and will only get better.

quote:Why not get Big Ben in there with him, at least for baseball games? He's also solid at softball. TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if he could pick up the other sports as well. I'm not sure what LSU would pay him compared to his current role at ESPN though.

Jim wasn’t like that the first 25 years of his career.
I used to listen to John and Jim on the radio during the games at the stadium.

I think CB is fine. Hate to hold it against him but his lackluster call on the Devin White batted pass at the end of the UF game was a big miss in my opinion.

Showed some excitement. It's obvious that he's been reading the Rant lately.

Don't hate him but not a huge fan.

Blair with Franques on the road for baseball is awesome. Two great voices and a color guy with insane institutional knowledge.

This. If he isn't a true LSU fan yet he will become one at some point.
His passion for LSU will develop over time.

Nobody knocks Blair for not being homer. We knock Blair bc the play will be done and he will finally tell you where the ball was hit then few more seconds later that we were out. Wind up, the stretch, fly ball to right field. Commerical break, left fielder gets under it for a routine out. The only time he is really good is when something good happens.
All that being said, I'm glad he is our radio announcer bc I understand how hard it has to be and he does a really nice job.
