This is getting sad. You would think at his age he would know to stay away from the fire water.

Now that Chavis is at Texas A&M he wants to be paid back in Peso's.

Seems pretty simple to me...did he sign that contract or not? If he signed, especially if it was still an open ended contract, that's his problem. And he's pretty stupid for doing so. If he is somehow able to win this after signing said contract, then I guess all contracts everywhere are null and void and chaos reigns. Somehow I doubt this is the case. Suck it Trebek, er I mean, Chief.

There are some VERY loosely pled "facts". The big one that just jumped to me in the Amended Petition is the assertion that the "Chavis Amendment" (Ex. B) was altered and the "Avella Amendment" (Ex. D) is an adultered version. Learned counsel did not point out that the "Chavis Amendment" was not fully executed while the "Avella Amendment" was fully executed b all parties. Oh, and it is apparent that Chavis signed each separately. Its not that LSU took the "Chavis Amendment" and changed it then executed it.

Second, and here is where I will defer to the members of the Louisiana bar, the contract expressly states any dispute will be resolved applying Louisiana law. So Texas law will NOT apply in this case.

The pleadings (complete with attachments) can be found here. Search civil records for Johnny Chavis:

The thing I can't get past is that he's suing his former and current employer.

Just sue everyone until you get it right, huh?

Geez.

A&M lawyers are the fricking worst. 95% of attorneys with a law degree from A&M would lie about anything. It is bred into them.

For a guy who has made millions, sure seems like Chavis is in a pinch for cash.

There is absolutely no basis for jurisdiction in Texas over a Louisiana contract dispute. He can plead whatever he wants in the Texas suit, but it will ultimately be dismissed.

This whole lawsuit bs has me very glad he is gone

Yeah I've always thought Chavis was a very loyal employee who was glad LSU gave him a shot after being fired from Tenn. Seeing this side of him has forever changed how he is viewed now in terms of character, imo, and has definitely hurt his reputation and standing as a person and college football coach. I bet even A&M is saying wtf.

This. I hope LSU sees this as far as it will go. Hopefully, there is no settlement. I would rather see LSU lose this case than give in to this piece of crap.

You mean all 15 of them? There wasn't an A&M law school until 2013.

I thought South Texas College of Law was affiliated with A&M. It's been around awhile.

This is where I'm at. Never in a million years would I have expected this. Sure, people move on to other jobs, and I can understand him wanting to coach somewhere else, but the way this has gone down is insane.

It just makes me curious what exactly happened between Chavis and Alleva. Saying that Alleva altered a contract is a serious charge. And goodness, if it's true... well it seems a lot of us don't really trust Alleva anyways, so in my mind, it's entirely possible.
