I would also suggest watching the drums and tubas warm up

Tuba quake - link to video begins at 9:10. This is when they were in a parade in Ireland for St Patrick's Day.

Here's another one of them doing the Quake in Ireland. Getting the crowd and the band next to them fired up.

What are you plans for food and drink? Will there be a community set-up, or is everyone on their own. If everyone is on their own, you may consider a drop-off around The Chimes before the bus parks on the other side of campus. That will give people that want to eat in that area, check out the parade grounds, student union, etc a short walk, and the people that want to go to Walk-Ons, and other places in that area a short walk also.

50+ Syracuse fans who are flying into New Orleans

Not sure of your plans when in NOLA, but...

- travel in groups when visiting the French quarter and don't let your friends wander astray. especially at night. you may find yourself trapped in a real-life Thriller video
- pardon the mayor's mess on bourbon st.
- enjoy the sights and cuisine
- go to food&drink board for restaurant recommendations in NOLA.

We're getting in 4 - 4.5 hours before kick to partake in pre-game festivities

- what the other poster said about arriving earlier is good advice. bite the bullet.
- you will be doing A LOT of walking. game is Sept. 23rd. it will still be extremely hot and humid as balls in BR, which doesn't bode well for a hangover. continuing drinking from night before is only cure.
- I recommend bringing a travelling bar. spend $30 on a roller ice-chest for just your walk-around beer, that you don't mind leaving behind. not to discourage you from visiting any tailgates as Tiger fans are known for being extremely hospitable especially to non-rival out of town fans, but it sounds like you have a crew & not too many tailgates are gonna be too fond of you swarming through their setup like locusts drinking all of their booze.
- be in the stadium at least 45 min before kickoff. pre-game band is something you cant miss.

That's all I got for now. I'm sure you will get good advice from other posters.

Really appreciate this advice and the rest you provide. To be clear, this is about 12 different groups from our message board who are all pooling money to get a bus. We're not some awkward group with cameras around our necks

I'll be sure to pass this info along!

I'd connect with an alumni association or something to see if there is already a Syracuse group tailgate. That might be an option to coordinate a meet up location. Otherwise your just wandering around campus in the heat. You'll be welcome at tailgates but a group of 50 is hard to accommodate on the fly. You could go to the northeast corner of campus and there are several options for food over there and a few bars.

try tailgating around the Parade Grounds near the LSU Union. The Union has restrooms , food court , and air conditioning.

Y'all may have this policy but Just a heads up also, don't forget we "Geaux Clear" on bag policy. Theyhave been particular about the size of the small carry purses as well. Just a heads up, so your group won't be caught off guard. The fan guide and the lsusports.net website gives a clear rule on the policy. Enjoy yalls trip and looking forward to seeing the Orangemen in Tiger Stadium.

Arrive on campus 6 hours before kickoff. Or 30 minutes before kickoff. But nowhere in the middle. Or prepare for stress.

I'm from Watertown/ Ogdensburg, btw . Later this evening I'll check back in to give you some friendly advice on how to max out your trip.

If I can think of anything else more pertinent, I will add.

Y'all should have a great time. Wear your hunter's orange. you'll get "tigerbaited" a time or two but its all in good fun. And likely be the only way you'll be identified and waved over to someone's tailgate setup.

Enjoy the atmosphere and your time in La.

be sure to give a recap of your collective experiences once you get back to NJ

Oh and...

Yeah, unfortunately the Alumni office isn't doing anything for this game. Which is why some random schmuck on a message board has to put a full bus together!
