Chad Jones would have had a successful NFL career if he had been healthy, I have no doubt. He fought so hard to come back. The Giants deserve a lot of praise for sticking by him for a year or two when you know their docs must have told the FO he would never play in the NFL.

I remember during the CWS in 2009 the guys in the booth, Orel especially, said he looked like a good MLB pitching prospect. Would be fantastic if it worked out somehow.

I do not believe that is correct. Booty signed with LSU in Feb. and was drafted by the Marlins in May. He never enrolled at LSU and went straight to the Marlins organization. Plus, he had another year of eligibility left at LSU in 2000, but saw that he would have been competing with Rohan for PT after the Peach Bowl, so he got out while his stock was fairly high (won SEC Offensive POY).

Booty went into pro baseball, then later tried to get out of his Marlins contract. In an effort to do so, he enrolled at LSU, then withdrew from school when the Marlins wouldn't let him out. His eligibility clock started then. He was eventually let out of his agreement with the Marlins and enrolled at LSU again, but he did lose a year of eligibility in the meantime.

I'm not imagining that, am I?

Dude.......

Yes you can get 2 semesters ("or a 6th year") added to your 10 semester count but its consecutive, and you have to prove at great length that the player missed 2 seasons of eligibilty due to major injury.

I admire his attitude and comeback. One of the most amazing athletes i've seen. All the best to him in baseball.

Pretty sure he didn't graduate but even if he did, he would still have eligibility. Not sure he wants to go right into pro ball after not having played for 3 years.

your eligibility clock starts once you enroll as a full time college student. it doesn't stop once you leave college. he has zero years left to play, regardless of the fact he left school early. his baseball eligibility ended after the 2012 baseball season

His Miss St. punt return may have been the best of the LSU modern era. Next to HB's non-td vs. UGA.

Awesome. That link coupled with his 2nd half at Miss State galvanized him as one of my favorite Tigers of all time.

Do miss watching him on the football field plus the baseball diamond when he played for LSU. Hope he has something good to fall back on work wise. Will be missed
