I just realized how counter to current American political trends this CFP system is - it's governed by a small cabal of so called "Experts" as opposed to polls which rely on the people who know: Fans and college football coaches! LSU will prove the so called experts wrong by busting up bad any team they rank ahead of us!!

Bill Hancock ran the BCS, and now he runs the CFB.

Exact same guy calling the shots for the TV networks and corporate sponsors - Bill Hancock.

Bill Hancock has achieved a unique trifecta at the highest echelon of intercollegiate athletics. He was the first full-time director of the NCAA Final Four, the first executive director of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and the first executive director of the College Football Playoff.

Why?

Same guy that ran the BCS now runs the CFP - and he does what the networks and corporate sponsors tell him to do.

And the committees and computer geeks do what they're instructed as well

Golden Rule lives on

Why? Shouldnt it be a set standard on the top 4 teams? or top 25... Nobody argued the top 4 teams in the BCS only that the #3 and #4 teams were just as good as #1 and #2...which brings us to the playoff...cool...so if you didnt argue the top 4 then why change it...Make it BCS system and take top 4 and make a playoff...they over complicated it and made it a power grab bringing the committee in...the committee has no rules not set standards and views each week differently with no consistency...human nature is to be bias which is what you and me are doing...you really think the committee isnt bias to a point? also opens the opportunity to be bought and if you think its not a possibility you are oblivious to it all

....IMO there are distinct political overtones to the CFP Committe's decision to award No. 1 to Ohio State. According to this mindset, the center of power must always reside in the north therefore awarding No. 1 to LSU would indicate a "dangerous" power shift to the south. That can't be allowed to happen. The north - northeast is generally viewed as more progressive while the "Bible Belt" South is viewed as more conservative.

Already we're witnessing folks leaving the north-northeast and migrating to the south. The insane high taxes (and crime) in the north is forcing people to move. A good portion of those folks are heading south......to places like Texas, Alabama, Florida.

Follow the money people.

Yes, the BCS composite of computer models was "populist". Little men developing mathematical formulas is the will of the general public.

What utter drivel. If you're going to make a political analogy I think the CFP would be more akin to the electoral college.

There's only one way to fix this. The 5 P5 conference champions, the top ranked G5 Team (has to be in the top 12 or so of a decent RPI system), and two at large teams selected by a committee for an 8 team playoff.

Actually, you are wrong. The BCS would have us at #2 also.

Exactly

The current NCAA TV contract is $13,900,000,000.00 ($13.9 Billion). Essentially ALL of that cash comes from corporate TV commercials.

If the billion-dollar money guys want the bracket to shape up some certain way, then the odds are strong that it will shape up that way.

Not saying it will be totally controlled, but it will be heavily influenced.

Again... "He who has the gold, makes the rules."

I think the funniest thing is we have “Experts” making the decision. Since they went to a playoff they could have solely used computers to eliminate the vast majority of bias.

Is this the original metrics-driven BCS formula or the last BCS formula that heavily-weighted the human polls?

The last one, which helps LSU a ton this year

LSU is ahead of Ohio State in all the human polls. If we took the human polls almost completely out of it like the original BCS did, LSU wouldnt be close to Ohio State

The same entity also owns the CFP. The CFP is literally a subsidiary of BCS Properties, LLC

Thats ok. Thats exactly what I want.

A dispassionate computer to compute all the data and spit out the best 4/6/8 teams and then let those teams settle it on the field. Even if that means leaving out LSU. Im not intellectually dishonest. I want the most accurate playoffs for the sake and integrity of the game and sporting competition.

We have that now.

And that Computer has Bama still at 2 and LSU at 4.....

all day long, I'd rather have a group of serious people, poring over mounds of data, to decide who gets in the playoffs than a system that uses antiquated, silly media polls as two-thirds of their formula.

This board is so juvenile. If the Committee had us no. 1 and OSU no. 2, we'd be praising the Committee for "getting it right" but OSU fans would be screaming bloody murder, just like this board is now.

So hypocritical.
