He also gave local media unprecedented access to practices. Don’t expect that with the next coach
I don't care if the next coach holds practices in North Korea if he wins.

It figures BK would crash out on the way out.

To be fair, although Woodward hired Jimbo at aTm, he had no part in Jimbo’s contract extension

I enjoyed his media availability and thought we was likable. Spoke like a good, professional, and goofy. He also gave local media unprecedented access to practices. Don’t expect that with the next coach
I’ll take a good football team over entertaining press conferences thank you

It’s a risky move to fire BK.

Kelly’s an arse
He is belligerent and egocentric
He’s wildly unpopular

Pretty good chance Kelly was a smug prick in that meeting and Woodward said frick it.
This is exactly what I think happened

Even riskier move to keep him

If true, he must've been used to Notre Dames standards of just complacency and "football things" to figure out

that his tenure at LSU may be nearing its end.
The sources are really going out on a limb here.

Why because we could lose 5 games a year with the next coach? frick Kelly and his terrible coaching hires and lack of ability to do anything about it!

Offering him $20M or things could get ugly for BK. May be done by tonight. Lots of back and forth with BK..
Hahahaha, we gave an illiterate shrimp boat captain 19mil to leave…BK isn’t walking away for 20.

I'm telling yall, be skeptical. This feels like a media feeding frenzy based on nothing official other than meetings and wishful thinking. There are no insiders here.
Whatever their intent was it’s DONE now.
You can’t go back after all of this

Kelly was probably shocked
Thought we were too stupid to say “accept reduced buyout, or be fired with cause”.
Who knows what the “cause” might be.

Not only that but whatever legacy he thought he had is a goner.
Posted on 10/26/25 at 5:54 pm to WeeWee
Couldn't do it on his own. Spending $54 million is above Woodward's pay grade.

Kelly is way to ego minded to not fight for more
Posted on 10/26/25 at 5:55 pm to dcw7g
You have national and local outlets pretty much telling you it’s imminent…but sure keep your head up your arse
Posted on 10/26/25 at 5:56 pm to Cs
I think the problem is that when Brian Kelly was hired at LSU it was so much guaranteed money that Kelly looked at it as his retirement and he has been retired ever since the day he was hired…I think LSU and other schools need to rethink these absurd contracts and put the emphasis on pay for performance. We need to have contracts that will make coaches wealthy if they win big but not for just showing up and doing press conferences where they say “We need to clean things up…”

That illiterate shrimp boat captain produced the greatest season in lsu football history, perhaps college football history. He deserved his full buyout.
