If I recall, we beat Alabama in 2010 at 2:30. Has going to Bryant Denny at night helped us in any way win the last 8 years? I don’t think so. I don’t mind a change.

I do realize it's not a home game but some of us have to work on Saturdays. Let me be a selfish piece of shite on this one damn it.

That’s obviously an outliner. Alabama has won a bazillion national titles. Of course we would have trouble with them no matter what the game time is.

This happens every year and people complain the same way every year. If we only want to play at night, the solution is don’t be good. If you are at the top the league, you get picked for more 2:30 games

Or we could sign a television deal that puts the game of the week in primetime. CBS is getting our games for peanuts comparatively. I think they get each SEC game for like 3.7M per game. That's crazy. Every other conference has deals with Fox/ABC/ESPN and all can have their major games in the primetime slot. CBS takes advantage of an afternoon slot but I'd still rather have a deal with ABC if it meant guaranteed Saturday Night in Death Valley for a huge game rather than praying CBS passes on us. CBS blows. When the next contracts are up I hope ABC throws the bank at us and we accept.

I just looked at the deals in place with other networks for the Big 10 and ACC and the SEC is getting fricked so hard by CBS. It's fricking ridiculous. Not only are they getting fricked on the money side of things compared to other deals, we are stuck with this 2:30 time slot bullshite with them only having the option to put 1 game a year in primetime.

If we make it to the SEC championship Gary gets a pass. There are more important things in life than fretting bout annoying announcers.

Wonder if we're both undefeated if CBS makes another deal with ESPN to move LSU/Bama to a primetime kickoff?

I hope not. This year, since we’re playing Bama on the road, I think it would take away from their home-field-advantage to play at 2:30. The only time I care about it being at night is in Baton Rouge.

CBS already used their 1 primetime game for the year this past weekend.

Which IMO was a mistake... How are they gonna feel when/if LSU and Bama are both unbeaten while still putting up these unreal offensive numbers.......... I assure you they didn't put the UGA/ND game on because of UGA............ It was all about putting ND in primetime............ And the game wasn't that good............

This is ridiculous. They have absolutely ruined our home field advantage. Death Valley at night is tradition. I feel like we play so much better at night.

Yep guess Dr. Quinn and the Medicine Woman get such great ratings on Saturday night on CBS that they refuse to have night games like ABC does, ESPN, etc. I can't imagine better ratings during the day other wise why would ESPN and ABC do it. I realize they are one in the same.

CBS should have a 7pm game every week. Day game should be the outlier.

yeah, was a total disaster for us in 2011

yes, ideally we get all home games at night, but TV wants the best teams so if you want to be good, some 230 games are inevitable. Maybe, when the SEC deal comes up again, they will shift to more prime time games, we will see.

Damn. They're launching 3 pilots back to back to back this Saturday. Does their Saturday night really get better ratings than College Football would get?

I don’t think the CBS deal expires until something like 2022 so it’ll be a few years before we find out. The SEC may not even stick with CBS at that point - I could see them going all-in with ESPN/ABC because of the added flexibility. But I’m sure the SEC will be more focused on the highest bidder than the kickoff times.

Whatever happens, I don’t think the SEC game if the week will ever get moved to a purely prime time slot for two reasons:

One, it’s risky for CBS (or whatever network) to commit to a prime time SEC game every week of the season. There are bound to be some bust weeks in the SEC with big time games going on elsewhere in the country.

Two, it gets hairy with the lucrative ESPN/SECN deals because now you have to move more of those games to earlier slots, so the SEC would presumably demand more money for a prime time contract.

My opinion - the best deal the SEC can make is one that gives flexibility to put the big games in prime time, which is why I could see them going all-in with ESPN as I mentioned before.

ETA: The SEC isn’t so much getting screwed by the 2:30 slot. It’s more that they are failing to maximize viewers for the big time ranked vs. ranked matchups. Keep in mind that SEC games also air in prime time on ESPN platforms and SECN. If shitty games like Ole Miss vs. Bama were in prime time, it would just force more of those other games into daytime slots.

so they will probably start negotiating pretty soon and i agree there is a good chance its not on CBS at all, but you never know, they may come up with a huge offer.

But if it is with ESPN/ABC, the there may not be an SEC GOTW per se like now with the 230 game, but a better chance for the bigger games to be in prime time. There has definitely been a shift in thinking. In the not to distant past the thinking was the 230-3 afternoon slot was the best for TV ratings, Saturday night was considered the worst night for TV, but with in the last 10 years of so, that's shifted at least for sports

Last two Auburn games I went to, both 2:30, both wins. Let's keep the ball rolling.

Minus the comebacks, I'd rather kick arse early and often then V formation for 4th quarter.
