ottom line, LSU very well should be playing for a second straight NC. I'm not unhappy with the season, but I feel LSU underachieved.
Why should we? Why not oregon? why not UF? FSU? UT? OU?, OSU? USC? Auburn? Michigan? Uga? Bama? Why shouldnt they be playing for titles? You dont think those teams have talent?
LSU overachieved with the cards they were delt. Major attrition happened to this team before and during the season.

I really think LSU fans just want that one special season of perfection. Our two national titles are not tainted, but a "split" and a "two-loss" referendum against them. Last year would have been among the greatest in college football history had we played Oklahoma State (I truly believe the psychology killed us in the rematch. No other team would have beaten LSU).

Last year was clearly an anomaly.
Considering our regular season last year was clearly the greatest regular season in college football history, I agree with you.

a couple of very questionable calls in critical situations plus a fatal blown coverage in the Bama game. Let me rephrase...playing for a shot at appearing in a second straight NC game. BTW, Bama IS in position to possibly play for their 3rd NC since LSU won theirs. Minus UF, all of the others don't play half the schedule LSU does. Auburn?? Really????

We won the sec!!! BAMA did not. Big difference.

I do agree with that, but, sadly, it's not in the rulebook. It's disgusting, as I firmly believe you must win the conference to play, but, it's not.

You do know we still would have had to win at least 10 other games to even have a shot rt? So if anything Les is the only reason we are in the conversation. Beating bama isnt all that it would take.
Do you forget we won 13 games last year? How does that happen? Who put us in the position to be that good? Les Miles
Your expectations and feelings of what underachieving is wouldnt exist without the success miles has had.

you don't want to be Auburn or Tennessee!
I just posted the same thing. Before people get sideways and start yelling that Miles sucks and all that garbage, remember you can always wind up with some coach like Chizik, Dooley, Kiffin, Mack Brown, John L. Smith..... everyone has their opinion but this should be kept in mind.
10 wins in the current SEC is an amazing stat. I don't care what SEC team you are. Look at Vanderbilt. Nobody gives Vanderbilt a chance to win their games. They've won 8 this season. Auburn isn't even going bowling. Something to think about.
It's also more impressive to have multiple double digit win seasons Out of 7 seasons here, Miles has had 5 10 or more win seasons. That's when Tebow was playing, Newton was playing, we just had a hurricane come through the state that devastated a good portion of it and even in that season we still finished with an 11-2 record.
Enough of the hijack.

I agree. Most people on here are so, I'm not sure what the word is, jealous comes to mind but I don't think that's it.
Well, yeah, it is, at least partly, that Saban is with the enemy now and they still crown him as the king of college coaches. Not saying he's not a great coach, he is, but some people can't seem to move on and cheer for the coach who also has proven positive results, yet he doesn't get the same recognition for some reason.
Anyway, not trying to turn this into a Saban vs. Miles thread or anything like that. Let's get back to the topic.

FAce it...this team is a peach bowl type team.
I will always base a "peach bowl type team" on our 2008 8-5 team. This year, it just so happens the SEC is stacked. and Cotton Bowl is creaming itself over Texas/A&M

quote:Umm, new QB, injuries devastating the O-line, most exciting player kicked off the team right before the season started, and you lose to #2 and #4 by 1 score each. With Notre Dame's schedule we're 12-0. In any other conference we're 12-0. The SEC just happens to be increasingly high-stakes.
yeah, but some people are still stung by the Curly and Dinardo years that they're "happy with 10 wins and a bowl game". "I remember when we didn't go to a bowl for 6 years". Ten wins are easier now with 12 and 13 games being played before the bowl, but the pumpers are still astonished by the 10 win plateau...some even with 9 wins. Bottom line, LSU very well should be playing for a second straight NC. I'm not unhappy with the season, but I feel LSU underachieved.

Where would LSU be now had they beat Bama?? LSU and Bama are the 2 best teams in the SEC West. I guess it's easy for pumpers like you to say "well, Bama beat us...but we beat everyone else and won 10 games!!" LSU is supposed to beat the other teams

I'm curoius to hear what the "a wins a win people" have to say about A&M playing in cotton and not us. They have a more fun team to watch
If i was a fan living in georgia id be happy to watch them in the dome, over going to dallas. For people close to br it shouldnt matter. Bout the same driving distance.

Why? We're not the only ones who recruit well. We're not the only ones with a good-great coaching staff. We're not the only ones with a massive stadium and loud fans.

that's why i CLEARLY stated LSU AND Bama are the 2 best teams in the West. Out of the 7 Western division teams in the SEC, LSU and Bama are the best TWO teams. Why are you confused??
