So a couple of things caused me to make this post.

Neck, is not a “tradition.” It wasn’t played by the band until the 00’s. It was something we took from Southern/other HBCUs. STTDB also originated then. To call this trashy is stupid. It’s college kids having college fun. If you have a problem with it, you probably have a problem with them doing bong hits and funneling beer. Get a life and let people enjoy college without judging them and labeling them.

Next, Dr. Baker is a tool. He’s the sole reason Mike doesn’t come into the stadium. I’ll be glad when that egocentric piece of shite retires. Mike being brought around the stadium actually is a tradition. It’s ones kids and parents enjoyed alike. Blame PETA and the woke doctor for ruining a great tiger tradition. Mike the Tiger has done more for tigers across the world then almost any tigers. The only tigers that may have been more popular than mike are the ones that were in the Vegas magic show.

Finally, there is no reason for LSU to maintain a tiger sanctuary. To be quite honest, that is a made up designation just to prevent people from having tigers as pets. Mike has a better habitat and treatment than almost every tiger held in captivity. To argue otherwise is strictly propaganda meant to prohibit people from enjoying this tradition. I know some jackass is going to say the fireworks scare him. That may have been true of the last tiger but it’s not true for all tigers. It also doesn’t prohibit him from being brought into and out of the stadium before any fireworks. Additionally, Mike’s quality of life is enhanced from changing venues.

Go see Mike if you think any of what I said is false. STTDB

Thousands and thousands of us were students at LSU, and we drank and partied just as the students do today. What we DIDN'T do was devise vulgar chants to the songs played by the band. So the whole "Neck" thing isn't a product of being young, it's a product of trashy, vulgar people. They just happen to be LSU students.
