It’s clear that the committee doesn’t care about schedule strength. Who cares about optics. Cancel the game with Clemson. Pay the buyout fee and schedule Southern/Grambling

Kelly is still losing 3+ in the SEC next year anyway. Save the Clemson buyout to put towards his.

yeah SOS and quality wins is long gone with no BCS and no computer rankings.
its old days in the 80s again with the AP and UPI polls. get the best record possible by any means and get in playoffs.

One things for certain. It's a fricking mess.

This is the old school moronic mentality that our OOC scheduler (Verge) has.
Next year if we are 9-3 sitting at home because of an opening loss at Clemson while Tennessee and Ole Miss are in the Playoff, will you be fine with that because “we aren’t pussies”. GFY

If pussies make the playoffs then consider me one.

Playing USC and Clemson on the road is absurd. If we had scheduled a rent a win instead USC, we would be in the thick of the playoff race. Alabama lost to 2 unranked 5 loss teams and they are ranked 13th.

Guys. USC and UCLA are dog turd. If you can’t beat a .500 team at a neutral site you have zero biz being in a playoff.

True. Bama also has wins over South Carolina and UGA.

That's because the committee's infatuation with Bama knows no bounds.

That won't happen. The committee doesn't care if we lose that game either. Clemson got rolled by a 2 loss UGA and they might still make the playoff even with their shite schedule. At least those games are entertaining. Watching us play Grambling is not entertaining and shouldn't even be legal.
The USC game should've been a rent a win this year and we still lost it. But as bad as that loss was, it honestly still didn't even matter. We're sitting at home because we lost 3 SEC games in a row and got completely dominated at home

I thought that would come to a conclusion upon Saban's departure

Bama is ranked 13. If they beat Auburn and one of the Top 12 lose this weekend, Bama is in the Playoffs. Bama gets special consideration and treatment because they are Bama. I dont like it, but, it is what it is.

This is always the dumbest take. These people have no nuance in their brains.

quote:We still wouldn’t be in. We’d be behind Bama…which puts us behind 4 B1G teams, 4 other SEC teams, ND, 3 ACC teams, Boise, plus the Big 12 champ would have a spot.
If we had scheduled a rent a win instead USC, we would be in the thick of the playoff race. Alabama lost to 2 unranked 5 loss teams and they are ranked 13th.
How about if we don’t completely fall apart in the 2nd half vs A&M then get embarassed by 30 at home against Bama? Quit making excuses about scheduling.
Schedule a rent-a-win team then the complaints are “TS sucks and we look bad to recruits because half the stadium leaves at halftime”
quote:I dislike the neutral site games. But glad we’re playing Clemson. Cool road game in 2025 and they come to play in BR the following year. I’d rather less rent-a-win FCS games and more games like this. SoS matters…which is why there’s 3 Big 12 teams with 2 losses ranked behind 3 SEC teams that have 3 losses
Playing USC and Clemson on the road is absurd

As long as their viewership ratings continue to hover around 5MM per game they will get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to selection by the media playoff committee.
