Who was the Wichita stud pitcher we beat? Dreifort maybe?

we beat them in 91 and 93. Dreifort was on both teams, but 93 was the POY i think

With the exception of the walk off single, Cresse had a shitty CWS week.

Yeah idk who the hell said crease, but there is absolutely zero chance that it was Cresse in 2000. He was horrible except that one AB

Stud Wichita St pitcher:

1991 Tyler Greene (Dreifort in relief plunked Rios on purpose, leading to an insurance run...idiot)
1993 Some No Name (Dreifort in relief and Rios nearly lined one of his skull)

Cresse

he was like 2-20 in 2000 including the game winner. He couldnt buy a hit before that.

'91 -- what a series. LSU faced Tyler Greene who was a top pick by the Phillies. He had a "knuckle curve" that did not do what he wanted in our game. Rich Cordani made sure of that. Greene lasted only about 3.1 I believe. Dreifort came in and as mentioned, he was told "frick you" by Rios. Rios thought he'd been hit due to his earlier homer.

I recall that Wichita/Creighton opening game and it was a classic. Shockers' Jim Audley threw a STRIKE to Doug Mirabelli from cf to gun down the potential tying run. Crowd, quite local and partisan, was electric.

'91 went our way as Florida did not fare well and Mouton knocked em out with a GS. Fresno State did us a favor by beating Florida State. They were the 1 seed. We were the 5. In the other bracket, it was a 50 plus win Clemson team and LBSU dirtbags along with Wichita State and Creighton. Clemson was believed by many to be the favorite. The ACC proved then and now that it's an overrated conference. And yeah we blasted Fresno in that first winner's bracket game. Then, destroyed Florida while the Noles watched from home.

Pat Garrity once told me they had a great scouting report on the knuckle curve: that Greene rarely threw it for a strike, so they decided they wouldn't swing at it. The difficulty, of course, was being able to pick up the knuckle curve in time to take it.

I would've got Walker and Larson, but I could've sworn LeMahieu or however you spell it won it not Mitchell. Ugh 2-5 sucks.
