re: Can we talk about that LSU front 7 on defense this year?

We will have a Defense that can keep us in any game and probably win a few on its own. But with Burrow I see E attacking more than we’ve seen in recent years. We have Wr talent and TE talent that will cause fits. Running game won’t be what it once was but I believe we will be pleasantly surprised in the Ensminger offense

Don't count out Neil Farrell. He's next in line behind Rashard Lawrence. Also Davin Cotton looks like he will be a beast as well.

Really like what I saw from Travez Moore in the spring game also....

This will be more stress on the defense. More possessions per game means the same for opposing offenses
From the looks of it, we’re going to have the better chance to do something with those possessions.

Not if the offense scores more. LSU has lost games recently because the defense was put in the position of having to protect narrow leads.
When an opposing offense trails by less than a touchdown, the whole playbook is open to them. Get them behind by ten points are more in the fourth quarter, and they have to become more one dimensional.

Do you Delpit bruh??
What was the latest on his injury? Will he be ready for Miami?
Broken collarbone that he had surgery to repair. I believe it was said to be a 6 week recovery. He should be full go for the beginning of fall camp.

Can’t forget about Justin Thomas. He has had a full year in the system and Moffitt has put about 20 lbs on him since he got to LSU last year. He is yet another piece to a deep DL rotation we now have.

How are we feeling about our corners? We could have used Tolliver.

The front 7 has 2 things, quality and depth. It's evidenced by this thread where you see multiple posts stating "what about player X or player Y". The 2 breakout players on D for 2018 are going to be Chaisson and Phillips IMO. Delpit would be the 3rd, but we already saw glimpses of how good he can/will be.
I'm not concerned about the offense in terms of sustaining drives to keep the defense fresh because we have enough quality depth that Aranda can put fresh DL and LBs in with little drop off. CB depth notwithstanding, I am really excited to see this D perform.

I agree with all of that...except Tua ain’t getting rattled. He’s a special player. Doesn’t mean we won’t get to him and put him on his arse...but he won’t be rattled.

Kelvin Joseph will be a star this year!!

Really like Joseph. My only concern with him at CB is he spent last season as a safety and the CB film I've seen he seems to be playing more zone vs man. He may require a little more time to get his feet under him. If he was an early enrollee I would be more confident in him as an immediate impact player. That being said, he's a big, physical, confident player with good instincts. He could be a lock down capable CB. I just haven't seen enough film to get a good read, but he's going to find time on the field due to his overall ability. He's too good to keep off the field. He'll at least get ST work.

really
you get this from half of one game - it was the big game and all eyes on him but as of today he is just a guy that came off the bench and pulled it off - it happens - for me he hasn't proved it yet !
I would love to have him and he seems to be a fine grounded young man - let's just not give him the SEC just yet

It should help cover any deficiency in the secondary that's for sure

I don't disagree Cliff. But, to be fair, people are doing the same thing with Joe Burrow.

We're weak at RB. Banking on the 3rd-string guy from last year to be an immediate star plus no depth behind him.

Not sure why this got many downvotes because it’s true.
