and that's really the narrative LSU should be pushing

I assume they are, but who knows.

I hate Auburn. frick em. But if the league came out tomorrow and said they were gonna punish teams with their shite orange color and kick them out, I think I'd have an issue with that despite how much I think it would be hilarious.

I've seen the theory that the SEC feels like it is losing control and this is a scorched earth method to try to hold onto some semblance of it. But this all feels so personal, which should (key word...not saying it will) end up being the crack in their armor and should make things end poorly for them. I am just not convinced it will.

And I do think Lane/we went too hard in the paint with this for something seemingly so small and stupid. However, I also know that other schools were doing the same thing. So if anything happens to us and not to the others who were actively and openly participating (and ones who were doing it on the down low too), then it would seem like there should be ramifications to that shite too.

As much as I want to be like "frick the SEC; we don't need them," I'm not so sure that's the case (even though I am sure we can figure something out if it were to happen). I guess ultimately I just think all of this is so fricking stupid and just want it to be over with. I finally care more about LSU football now than I have in several years, and it's all this extra bullshite to deal with.

Some still feel like punishment is still on the table for lsu

If this is simply the SEC trying to prove it can go nuclear if need be and we all move forward after ? Fine….but there’s no world we should accept any type of punishment

I can still disagree with eligibility ruling but if we’re all playing by the same rules going forward then so be it.

And the players only sued the SEC because it’s the first time they’ve taken strong action . You can bet your arse Chambliss would have sued if they stood between him and his NIL deal with OM

LSU seemed to be playing a game of chicken with the SEC after they tried to close the loophole.

And LSU had every right to play that game of chicken because the question is - why now? Why with everything else that has been tolerated and permitted in this conference is this the hill the SEC decided to die on?

Sankey has made LSU and Kiffin his litmus test in a very adversarial way when there were dozens of other opportunities to draw this line.

People are retarded, so no, they can't get over it. You have people who still believe LSU itself sued the SEC, and they crow it proudly like they discovered gold.

I truly don't, unless perhaps the player sue the SEC and the discovery reveals things that are only alleged but aren't proven (like the role of LSU/Kiffin/staff in recruiting the players and filing suit, etc.).

Fans may think that, but I don't think the schools do, once we ensured we would not roster the 2 players.

If we never rostered the players and we get punished I agree 100%

I just don't think that's likely, unless the player civil suits make it impossible to ignore.

I 100% think this ends with fines and suspension(s). Which is bullshite. But I suspect that may eventually be the path of least resistance on both sides, which is why it will happen.

And the thing that pisses me off the most is that it seems like nobody nationally even cares that the blame for all of this lies at the feet of the fricking NCAA who made this fricking rule far too late. Had that not happened then these kids wouldn't be trying to come back and this shite circus wouldn't be happening.

The combination of this rule being so bright (similar to Sorsby and gambling) and the SEC bring brought in as a defendant in a state court proceeding.

That combination isn't found in any other case, I don't reckon.

Because it’s the first time the SEC took strong action. Up until then they’ve abided by TROs, so it’s different because they made it different…not the players

Which is why the vast majority of LSU fans feel like this is an action based on Sankey’s hurt feelings.

I don't think they've been specifically added as a party prior to the hearing until this one. Previously I think it was all NCAA.

The SEC wants to do everything it can to ensure that doesn't happen again.

Sankey reacting so poorly to being called out for inconsistent rule enforcement is exactly why you don’t hand someone like that such power

Because it wasn’t necessary to make the SEC a party until this one came up. In the past, they’ve let it play out in the courts

This time the SEC came running in before the initial court ruling

Right

I feel like LSU not being in the SEC would truly send me into fair weather mode. The fricking game is already so gone.

Amen.

First they came for the LSU Tigers.
And I did not speak out
Because I was not an LSU Tiger.

It makes sense there. Same as Chambliss and Ole Miss

LSU, this year, doing it for 2 scrubs? No.

Regardless if we’re headed for self governance then there better be some impartial appeals processes in place because all this has shown me is the conference is cool with selective enforcement and if you don’t like it, we’ll sue you and boot you.
