I can’t seem to recall why he decided to go to USC. Was looking at rivals rankings yesterday because of the Randle thread and I forgot he went to Curtis who churn out great rb’s and i feel have been good to LSU.

TIA

USC sold him as the next Reggie Bush.

I’m sure he got plenty of other benefits well.

Yep, especially when we was running two TEs and a FB. His play style wasn’t suited for our offense. It all worked out for everyone I think.

-Idolized Reggie.
-Pete happened to call Reggie while talking to Joe.
-O was trying to get him to Ole Miss or to USC.
-Joe thought Larry Porter was fake.

Funny because I feel that is the exact offense run at John Curtis so I think it would have been a Great fit

Yea you’re exactly right. I never thought of that. Now I feel stupid lol

But then again SEC is a tab more competitive than LHSAA

His freshman year was '07, when we were way more multiple than just power I that Les evolved into. Plus USC was running plenty I formation with a FB and TE with Reggie.

LSU rb depth played a factor too
Miles always had enough te and rb
Probably didn’t like how miles played multiple rbs either plus usc offense was much more explosive

Really? USC had signed a 5* and a 4* RB that year and 4 of the Top15 RB's the year before. Unreal!

O was pushing him towards SC to keep him out of the SEC.

Didn't he say he signed with USC because he wanted a better chance to win a National Championship? LSU won one and USC didn't.

Reggie bush was an idol.
USC was the glamour school at that time.
Plenty of rumors that Curtis school or church or some such got a large donation which was funneled towards the McKnight family. (Jc keeping some naturally as well).

Wasn’t it reported years after that he was closer to going to OM than LSU and that LSU interest was just save face.

The book Meat Market goes into detail of his recruitment from the Ole Miss perspective. They thought it was either them or USC.
