I keep seeing posts saying things like, "LSU needs to step up their NIL game."

I thought we already have players utilizing NIL?
What am I missing?

I don't think LSU has necessarily been doing anything to get deals for their athletes. I read that Ohio State already has NIL endorsements in place for Eli Ricks for >$1M if he goes there.

Ahhh.
This makes sense.

If NiL is goung to stay in place, they need to change the rule to let the player be in their football gear to do the advertisements. A lot of companies aren’t interested in ads where the player is not allowed to have their school stuff on.

I mean PROFESSIONAL sports leagues typically don't allow that either.

it needs to go away. Programs are straight up BUYING top players from other programs. This is supposed to be amateur sports.

LSU admin is on top of it, but it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of people opening their checkbooks and contributing. Other schools boosters have had a lot more success securing funding.

The people that forked out for the coaching change need to throw some cash for NIL.

It's baffling that so many short-sighted people couldn't see what a can of worms this was.

I don’t know about that. Off the top of my head, I can remember many ads of JJ Watt, Drew Brees, Mark Ingram etc. in their uniforms

I was under the impression it is against the rules for a school to help students get NIL deals. Pretty sure they have to hire an outside firm to help players with this.

Yeah, look at A&M's current class.

NIL goes into effect and suddenly Jimbo is putting together a Kirby/Saban level class.

I believe I read that LSU allows their brand to be used by their players it just had to be submitted on and approved.

Pefect example. They payed 300k for a WR recently.

Ohio State payed $1 million for the QB from Texas.

It's professional free agency now.

People think NIL is big money for everyone. It’s not much different anywhere else. LSU has 1 or two highly marketable players.

There has to be return value for endorsements. It’s not a 1 sided thing

Eli Ricks doesn’t have $1m for him at Ohio St. no one knows who Eli ricks is

You think the purpose of NIL is for companies to advertise?

I feel like I'm Morpheus trying to explain the Matrix to Neo...

There is a large payment to the team if a professional player is in his team uniform for an add. I'm assuming that would be the same for college NIL deals when it is allowed by the NCAA
